Partner and I had a quick bite on a Saturday night. Service was good. Staff were friendly and greeted us upon entering.
Ordered two packs, a beer, a wine and two sauces for $44. Not bad.
Tables and chairs are screwed to the floor in a really uncomfortable position; you need to sit on the very edge of the chairs to be able to eat over the tables. Had a sore bum after 15mins.
Food came out in less than 5 mins from ordering.
Chips were fresh and crunchy. Fish (blue grenadier) was fresh and tasty, but a little overcooked at one end. Potato cakes were good with enough chicken salt. Dim Sims were pretty good too. All seemed to be cooked in fresh oil.
Points lost for general cleanliness, uncomfortable seating and food not being too outstanding. If in area, would eat again.
Not worth not fresh i din enjoy my meal and didnt finish. Pls Do not go this place. Taste awful worst fish n chip in melbourne i have tried 🙁 spoilted my dinner. Also need to pay for sauce when fish is not nice. pls improve recepi n quality maybe add chicken salt n buy serve fresh n nicer fish. If not, i suggest u to close down. Service just fine.
Really disappointing. Didnt have multiple menu items available (the wrap or burger) so simply ordered fish and chips. We ordered a grilled and a fried flake, both of which were flavorless, rubbery and not quite cooked properly and even the chips were bland and stale (which is hard to say considering theyre chips). We left most of the food uneaten because it was honestly just unenjoyable. A little bit of care towards their food in the future would be nice to see but we will not be returning. Also there was bird shit all over the tables.
Love the location and architectural design of Fish Bar. Allows you to enjoy beautiful view while eating your fish dish. Was also lucky enough to enjoy the sweet voice of a busker nearby. Service was fast. I ordered a Slimmer’s Pack which included grilled fish, two prawns + a salad and a mineral water (orange and passionfruit flavoured).
Strongly suggest staying away from this place. The only reason we bought take-away from here is because it was New Year’s Eve and there were limited dining options with nearby restaurants fully booked. Upon entering, my first impression was that this place lacked the cleanliness expected of an eatery. We ordered grilled crumbed flake which was very flat, dry and tiny. Absolute rip off at $7 a piece. The chips were very oily, stale, cold and seemed cooked in over-used oil. The queue was long and we waited over 30 minutes for a meal not worthy of human consumption. This place clearly compromises on quality and management need to step up to meet the expectations of a higher market Docklands clientele. The quality is not commensurate with the price paid. Overall, disappointing experience and suggest dining else where.
The prices are too high for the quality and portion of the food. Chips was stale as it was sitting there while my fish was being cooked. They don’t include tartar sauce which is standard with any fish and chip restaurant, and charge 70c for tiny tubs of sauce. I asked for extra salt on my chips a there was no salt on the chips at all. Staffs are pretty rude. This is not up to Melbourne standards. I would definitely not recommend this place
Food was OK and tasty enough (grilled baramundi & chips). But way too long to get the food and there was zero fresh food (no salads whatsoever, even though advertised). And no sushi whatsoever (even tho advertised).
Prime location on the water….a tourist spot…but definately not up to Melbourne standard.
