The curry beef don at Ichimaki was flavoursome; the curry sauce itself specifically. Spice levels just at that subliminally good level. However, the b…

Caught up with some project mates in the dying weeks at work for a quick lunch at Ichimaki today. Not as crowded as it would normally be at the back half of the week and we managed to get s table downstairs rather than in the loud upstairs area. Impressive speed of food delivery. I had no sooner sat down after ordering my salmon bento box when it turns up. The others were still in a queue to order but their food came fairly promptly also. Cooked teriyaki salmon was tender and tasty and the salmon nigiri was vibrant and generous with bright fresh salmon, the rice was a little bit blah blah but was able to be tarted up with the teriyaki. Others had noodles which they enjoyed. Enjoyable catchup over an easy lunch.
The food is terrible and over priced
i been food poisoned twice after the beef curry twice
it disgraces the real authentic Japanese and Chinese chefs
The cook need serious retraining
Clearly no one knows good cooking
its like someone just dump and cook flippantly
Will not recommend
Ordered the pork Ramen. It was very watery with no taste. Possibly the worst Ramen I’ve had in Melbourne. It was served very quickly though.
Had been there just once.
Average ambiance….. Average food…
Have better options available in the same location….
Just one thing I liked abt the place that the turn around time is quite good….
For office workers this is an ideal place if it’s pouring outside. However there isn’t many japanese options around so you’ll have to make do with you have the cravings and visit this place run by chinese.
It’s popular don’t get me wrong. They’ve got sushi to hot food snacks to custom orders. I’ve been here and had the japanese pancake but it was more flour and no cabbage which I expected.
I usually have the cha shu ramen which you can’t go wrong. Price is reasonable but don’t expect to get a seat unless you get there early.
It’s a good place to spend your lunch time, they usually make meals fast. So there are a lot of people will go their have lunch especially the people in the office buildings around there. The food there are fresh and one meal is too enough for one person. The environment is good, they are cleaner than those Chinese restaurants. All staff there are so friendly. It’s really a good experience for eating there
Just don’t. The best compliment about this place is the food is just edible, barely. If you’re expecting Japanese cuisine and flavours, look away – because Ichimaki is squarely a Chinese run place so prepare to have everything taste more like WonTon Soup than Udon Noodles. Don’t be fooled by the number of people there, it’s only because we have nothing else in the area! Sayonara! Or should I say Zaijian…
