Went to Kobe Jones for a weekday lunch.

My wife and I had the All-You-Can-Eat sushi for $40 per person, which was a steal when you consider the quality of the food. We also enjoyed a lobster broth with fish (that looked like fancy miso soup), and a dessert platter of ice cream and others served with chocolate chopsticks. We tasted a lot of the rolls and sushi on the menu.

The service was impeccable from start to finish. All the food was described by the waiter in great detail, and he was happy to repeat everything to my wife and I. Service was friendly and prompt. The waiter seemed to really love the food himself!!

The sushi and rolls were all excellent. If you want authentic Japanese food, youre not going to enjoy Kobe Jones sushi. Theyre not aiming for authenticity, but are trying to create something new and exciting, without being pinned down by any strong tradition. My wife, who moved from Japan to Melbourne only 4 years ago, really enjoyed trying something new, and so did I. Ive been to Japan 20+ times, but still felt like I was eating something for the first time. We loved the crunchy (panko-crumbed?) soft shell crab sushi, volcano roll, and liberal use of avocado and crab meat in a number of the other sushi. We enjoyed everything we tried except the lollipop sushi. Original and beautiful, but I felt the flavour of the cucumber overpowered the rest of the flavours.

The soup was outstanding, and were still trying to figure out what the crunchy strands were. We really enjoyed this. It was served cool or lukewarm, which may have helped bring out some of the flavours that would be hidden if served too hot or cold.

Overall, Id give Kobe Jones a 4.5/5 if I could, but am willing to round up instead of down because I dont see anything wrong with the food or experience.

Cooking in front of a chef while your food is prepared is absolutely entertaining to watch. With the combination of Seafood, pork and red meats to choose from. Its your choice. They do have premium choices and if you like a good save, go to some deals website that they have advertised and you’ll see. Its up to your chef tastebuds to make it perfectly as possible. Including the theatrics.

Bought the spring awakening degustation menu deal from Groupon. Booking for the voucher was fairly easy with clear instructions on how to book it online. Happy with most of the items on the menu except the rice and miso soup which we found to be a tad salty for us. Other than that, service was friendly and the ambience was great. Would definitely recommend the Groupon deal for Kobe Jones!

Had the lobster banquet here with my family. Good food however the portions weren’t one to one. Dessert was actually one shared by two which wasn’t stated earlier in the coupon we used which was very disappointing as I had to buy extra desserts for the ones missing out and they are small as.

We used the groupon for lobster set at $139 for 2 pax. Really disappointed as the bits of lobster served with the sushi was mushy and flavourless. The last main of lobster tail was overcooked. Overall, we were disappointed to say the least.
