A great friendly, open spaced, affordable Thai place that’s flexible to let you pre-order for work lunch.
Ordered:
Bangkok Street Noodle: Porchetta pork, pork crackling, dried shrimp, tofu, shiitake mushroom, five spice, fried shallots & sticky chilli soy sauce ($15.00)
Review:
Heavy soy broth that makes it a little difficult to slurp, this noodle dish was very rich and fun to eat anyway. The range of different ingredients and textures from the crispy pork crackling, the soft mellow tofu and the spongy shiitake mushroom in the Bangkok Street Noodle keeps it engaging and lively.
They were also open to pre-ordering, and bookings which is great when you’re on a tight work schedule.
Came here a few times during lunch.
I always ordered Bangkok street noodle. A bit salty but very flavourful and the pork slices serving was generous. Love the crispy wonton skins that came with the soup.
Heard from my friend that their pork belly stir fried was pretty good too.
Food could take long to come and its not always possible to get a table for a big group on friday lunch.
A bit expensive – but its docklands area.
Prompt service, delicious food.
I like the beef tongue curry, we’ll cooked meat blended with thai aromatic spices and flavor.
Rest all are decent thai dishes
Quite enjoyed this Thai restaurant and the food, great selection on the menu. Definitely a hot spot for the workers and locals. We had the green curry and the lamb masaman curry with roti on the side and all of it was quite yummy and filling. The service struggles when its a bit busy, but theyre polite and friendly, that said luckily food comes out fast once youve ordered so we were lucky. Worth a trip if youre around here.
With a slew of sub-par Thai restaurants in Melbourne, Pok Pok manages to not fall in the same category. Although the dishes here have been westernised to an extent, they are not too bad.
The Chargrilled Chicken Salad was what youd expect but the Chicken Green Thai Curry was lacking slightly; it didnt have some of the strong spices youd find in traditional Thai green curry (the big one being Kaffir), but it also didnt fully commit to the westernisation and making it their own unique dish (which some Thai fusion places do very well). The curry felt like a watered down version of its original form – that being said, it wasnt terrible but I wouldnt order it again given the better alternatives that exist elsewhere. I should also mention that the chicken portion was quite generous especially given the prices.
Apart from the food, the service was polite, and the environment was quite trendy. If youre not fussy with Thai food, Pok Pok could be a decent choice, otherwise there are better alternatives out there.
Happy with most dishes we ordered. Their Kao Soi is good, a curry-noodle dish not commonly found in most Thai restaurant. Big down side is we felt thirsty after …
