Review:
I typically hate going out to eat viet but there’s a little weak spot in my heart for this dish.
It reminds me of my childhood – cracking the fried noodle cake and letting them soften under the light gravy.
The colours of the dish are visually enticing, with a selection (combination) of meats from seafood to that cheap protein.
Dish was not bad and I’ve had variants where the gravy is so thick it saturates my bloodstream.
I liked that they gave you the option of having the classic restaurant tea that clears your soul. I can down limitless amounts and the fact that it was no frills, very basic made me feel as though I was right in footscray.
Semi cramped area, it’s not an ideal place to take clients. But great for putting your head down and having a quick satisfying feed.
Eating here was a slightly funny but frustrating experience. The person taking our order didnt understand English very well which led to some interesting exchanges. First, I ordered the prawn crackers which confused the waiter since he didnt understand what they were so he called over another person working there. Surprisingly, this person was also confused so I ended up walking to a sign to point it out to them. Second, my partner asked whats the difference in size between the small and large pho to which the waiter replied the small is smaller than the large. And third, we asked for no spring onions in our food in which the waiter confirmed that there would be no spring onions. Of course, the food ended up full of spring onions so we called the waiter about it and he told us to pick it out ourselves. He looked particularly stressed by this point since the table next to us was also having problems as they were given the wrong orders.
Although the service was absolutely laughably horrendous, the main reason for the negative review is due to the low quality of food as well. The prawn crackers were dripping with oil, the stir fry noodles was average at best, and the pho was far too sweet. I would advise against this place – there is a much better Vietnamese restaurant a few shops down.
