Tried Captain Gummy’s for the first time after investigating the other local fish and chip shops. On the whole, Captain Gummy’s is better than the other local options available. The chips and potato cakes were nice and crispy and well seasoned. I was told by others in my group that the fish was well cooked which is a compliment given the fish eaters in the group are quite picky. As a vegetarian, I was excited to try the vegetarian souvlaki but was somewhat disappointed that it consisted mainly of salad, cheese, fried egg and garlic sauce. Falafel or some other meat alternative would have been a welcome addition. While I won’t be having the vegetarian souvlaki again, I will return if just for the chips and potato cakes.
