Went here for lunch and got large noodles with beef and black bean sauce as well as sweet and sour pork. The serving size was generous and for $10.50 you can’t go wrong. I really loved the pork because everywhere else I get it from is too sweet and after a while gets sickly but this place has the best sweet and sour I pork in my opinion.
Beef Curry puff ($2.70) was a solid lump inside soggy and oily pastry. Very salty filling, tasted like beef stock cube and there was no real beef inside.
A colleague recommended me to try out Shining Asia which is quite popular with the canteen scoop style. You can either choose food from their main menu or a variety of ready to scoop dishes on display accompanied with noodles or rice. Instead of their popular scooping dishes, I ordered the hainan chicken with rice.
First impressions is they give you a reasonable amount of chicken and rice. The rice had some fragrance of chicken, but would be better if it had a tad of coconut milk. They provide you with a boneless maryland chicken topped with a special ingredient, don’t think it was ground peanut, but definitely went well with the chicken. The chicken was very tender and soft but the dish was slightly too oily.
Overall very satisfying and well priced for a hainan chicken rice in the Westfield food court ($11.80).
Yikess what was i thinking! Felt like asian but the foods went that fresh and services looked quite bored. Ended up just getting some dry tasting steam dimsims and veg curry… sighh.. gave them a chance though!

Food was okay. Tried a lot of things to get a full taste of the restaurant. The soups were okay though it was not very authentic. The braised duck or lamb on rice was pretty good as well though it was mainly rice. The sweet and sour pork and honey chicken and most of the dishes out front are not very good and the chicken is not really ‘chicken’ but mostly flour. The fried noodles are good, I’d give you this.
Shining Asia is not as ‘shining’ as they claim to be. Saw one of the staff standing on the bench where food preparation takes place while ordering. The food here isn’t particularly good either, being extremely oily. Food in the cabinet also appears to be shrivelled up and ‘old’. Overall, utterly unimpressed.
Love the choice of food here, I’ve eaten here a couple of times, until I realised that the food here wasn’t that good. Most of the food, especially the meat, tastes really old and stale, like it’s been sitting there for ages. Also after eating here I would always feel sick, not too keen on coming back
