Partially underground, the name does indeed prove accurate. It’s cavernous. A classic old school cafe with some good lunch offerings. The espresso on offer, a tad on the bitter side for The Dear Luncher but still provided the necessary pep for the meeting Your Dear Luncher was attending in the area.
Award winning Flinders vanilla slice is available here, so if you’re feeling like a vanilla slice with your coffee this might just be a destination for you.

Went here with my parents who aren’t into fancy coffee and like it so hot that it scalds the average persons throat. Normally baristas are really condescending to them when they make a request for hot coffee- not here! They were really accommodating and multiple times came to check that everything was to my folks’ liking. Good stuff and thank you.
