We came here for a high tea and it was a wonderful experience. Parliament house is truly a spectacular piece of architecture. Walking through the building to strangers corridor was amazing. We were seated in the corridor for at a table and served our high tea.

The food was delicious and experience lovely as we sat in a building that carries so much history and beauty. I loved that the food was sourced from Victorian farms and businesses and that even the cups and plates were Australian.

I highly recommend booking in for a high tea and coming here. I believe this needs to be on every Victorian’s bucket list and if you are visiting Melbourne a great attraction to get a taste of local.

High tea inside the Parliament House of Melbourne surely was a fancy and interesting experience. Despite the fuss of bag & body checking, it was worth exploring such a historical place. It gave me an eerie feeling passing through the reception, the banquet area, and the Queens Hall. Even the toilets were classic. We paid $47 per person for a complete high tea experience. The food here includes sandwiches, sweet cakes like macaroons, scones, tarts, fruit slices, etc; but they tasted average. You can pick your tea bag and hot water will be served straight away. We also had sparkling wine beside the tea to complete our Friday afternoon (much too soon?). Anyways, I feel privileged to be a stranger dining inside the Parliament House, and I’m glad that they have the innovated idea to open it to the public.

The place serves old fashioned recipe food. Don’t get me wrong, but I really really enjoyed the food.

I ordered the salmon, the skin is crispy. Loved their dill sauce. Meat of the fish was succulent as well.

Partner ordered the meat pie. The puff pastry was extra crispy and delicious.
    Portions were big and filling.

The family ordered their Steak (Medium Rare) and the Duck dish. All of them enjoyed as well.

Staff were friendly and have a good sense of humour. Service was excellent as well.

It might sound simple, but it’s definitely a good experience to visit.

I rate it 4 ad I feel privileged to be dining at the most important building in Victoria! Strangers Corridor is a restaurant basically for the parliamentarians when they are sitting! The public get to enjoy it only on their off days. The Restaurant is hidden inside the Parliament House of Victoria – where the first Australian Parliament sat in 1901. You need to book, go through the security check just like the airport!
For all that trouble, I know I am wining and dining in a very safe spot, very private and quiet location! I just love the exclusivity, the amount of space to myself!!

Food was good considering we are the only ones in the restaurant most times! The price is pretty much on par with what is charged out there. I choose this anytime for the exclusivity and space to myself!!

One should do the tour before or after the restaurant!! Highly recommended!

Came here for Afternoon Tea on a weekday when Parliament wasn’t sitting. The Scones were the best I have ever tasted and the Salmon and cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches were scrumdiddlyumptious as was the mini cakes. After stuffing our faces we did a tour of Parliament overall it was a lovely afternoon.
