I might not be a bread connoisseur but I’m a carb addict so that’s gotta count as something right? Anyway, big call but I’m going to say it – best bread in Melbourne! The texture of Frank’s breads is just incredible. There’s the Bavarian Pretzel with its deep brown crisped exterior, and soft yet chewy texture, and then there’s the famed rye bread with its dense, moist and chewy texture.
The smell of Frank’s breads is simply intoxicating. Slicing into the rye bread at home almost sent me into a feeding frenzy. How could something so simple taste and smell so wonderful? I was so infatuated with the breads that I went back again on the same day to buy more.
For those who have some time on their hands, go and read up about Frank. He is clearly very passionate about his breads, and an extremely skilled and hardworking baker too. Not only that, he is so cheerful and full of energy, just by talking to him brightens up my day. Stay awesome, Frank!
Great bread and friendly staff. Frank has a slightly eccentric personality that puts a smile on your face. Been here forever and still produces the goods. Cash only.
Best bread in Melbourne, maybe Australia. Traditional recipes no preservatives etc. Been going strong since 1958. We make a weekly trip over to pick up a couple of loaves every week.
