Melbourne breakfast cafes set the bar pretty high and this place has just raised it up a notch. The servings are generous and the combination of flavours are delicious. Set in a little side street, its the perfect spot for brunch.

This is a favourite spot for myself and my friends! Its got a great vibe with good outdoor and indoor seating! We enjoyed the heavenly and must-try dish the Nutella Panacotta which has sushi roll banana and peanut butter, toasted marshmallow and other delicious food around it. The heirloom carrots were delicious and the Salmon on Zucchini noodles was very tasty! Worth visiting!

After a very enjoyable first experience at Penta, I finally found myself back again to try out the rest of the dishes.

I have been eyeing the Instagram famous Nutella Panna Cotta for a while now and who says you can’t have dessert for lunch? It arrived looking stunningly beautiful, and yes, it also tasted stunning. Each mouthful provided a Nutella hit, and a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. The tartness from the strawberries balanced out the decadent nature of the panna cotta, and the peanut butter and nuts coated banana added a contrasting savoury element to counteract against all the sweetness. A bit pricey for the portion size, but if you have a sweet tooth like me, then I say just try it!

My partner, went with the same choice he made on the last visit – the Penta Benedict, and it was as good as we remembered. The braised beef checks were flavourful and tender, and the sweet potato waffles were just as delicious. Perfectly poached eggs and a tangy jalapeo hollandaise rounded up this dish.

Penta also does fantastic coffee, and smoothie. The skinny latte was bold, rich and smooth. The peanut butter smoothie was intensely rich and thick, it was like a meal in itself!

As I came on a weekday, it was pretty quiet and service was accordingly attentive. Staffs had time for a friendly banter with customers, and our lunch was a leisurely affair.
