Weirdly large menus here. Not in number of items, but in actual physical size of the menus. There’s a water feature that you might not want to sit near as water might leak on you, plus there’s the big hanging gas heaters that are really hot- nice on a cold night but overkill if eating a curry. Food was good and service was ok if a little slow.
This is not good. The curry looked like it would glow in the dark and the noodles tasted like rubber. Overall it was disapointing and would not recommend it.
Ordered take away basically waiting an hour to get my food even though I live 300 m away from the shop. Food was bellow average, ordered a few veggie curries basically got 3 slices of capsicum and onion…… hmmm I will never order from this place again it’s an abomination.
Phad Thai is a nice local Thai joint.
We went on a Monday night and only one table was occupied by a group of six.
The restaurant is well presented and it has a nice, warm decor.
Menus are very nice and vibrant.
We ordered 2 soups and 2 mains.
Weirdly, my partners soup and main arrived together.
Then, around 10 minutes later, my main arrived, and close to 10 minutes later – my soup. I didn’t like that at all.
The Chicken Tom Yum was Ok – nothing to write home about tho. It did have some good flavours and plenty of chicken and mushrooms.
The Clear Chicken Soup was disappointing – although it had a good amount of chicken in it, it lacked absolutely any flavour.
The Chicken Pad Thai was nice and also very nicely presented.
Finally, the Gai Phad Bai Kaprow was very nice and had some very good flavour.
Together with a glass of Sav and a beer, we paid $53.50, which was a good value.
Considering the amount of Thai restaurants down the road, I don’t see a reason to go back to Phad Thai Food. One can definitely find better.
Very average food at this place. Very pricy. There are so many options for Thai food in Elsterwick, I’d recommend to bring Ng something unique (either price reduction or an outstanding meal). I’ve been here a few times to confirm consistency. I won’t be visiting here again.
Service was extremely poor and slow.
Food was disappointing. Red duck curry was extremel bland, as was the Pad Thai. Chicken in the pad Thai dry and overcooked. I’d also bet 100 bucks that the seafood in the tom yum was from the freezer – low quality and no flavour or texture. Furthermore coconut rice was drenched with coconut milk
If I order a chicken green curry, and a chicken Pad Thai… I would expect to get more than 4 small slithers of chicken in each meal. The Pad Thai had more Tofu than Chicken! SO TIGHT WITH THE CHICKEN! Its like $8 for 2 KG of chicken breast at Aldi, please don’t mug me off with 2 meals totalling $35! Taste wise, curry was lovely. Pad Thai was as bland a Pad Thai I’ve tasted…
