I could almost give this place a 5/5 plus is BYO!
    1 X entree + 2 X main + rice and roti = $63
Nothing to fault. The food was all amazing. Entree was pork spring rolls which were some of the best I had had. Normally we have spring rolls that are large and over done with other fillings. These were plain and bang on. For main we had the Massamum Curry (chicken) which had awesome punch of flavor and a generous amount of chicken and Soft Shell Crab w/ garlic which I must say the crab was battered heavily which over powered the smaller portions of crab but the larger pieces were great.

I love this Thai restaurant in Essendon – and there are quite a few in the area – but this one just stands out for me. I love their roti bread, for a start, and usually switch between their green curry – which is delicious and can be spiced up if you like it hot – and pad thai, which doesn’t have any strange, additive aftertaste like a lot of pad thai that I’ve had in Melbourne. If you’ve experienced that, you’ll know what I mean.
Blooming Orchids is also in a very handy location at the base of Bulla rd. They make everything fresh, so you have time to grab a few groceries if you’re getting a takeaway!

What a wonderful experience! The food was amazing and tasty. The restaurant was so nicely decorated – even the bathroom was impressive! To top off a wonderful evening the restaurant helped us bring out a birthday cake and even gave us birthday card and gift! We will be back very soon!

I was quite pleased with the food and service i received here. We had the roti bread and satay sauce for entree, which was a nice start to the meal. Then we had the froed crap (which was amazing) and the green thai curry (which had the right mix of flavour & spice)

As I have been here a several times. The foods here are well adapted with local taste and style. Most of the foods are not too spicy but still represent the authenticity of Thai food, along with some healthy ingredients. They really emphasis on the aesthetics of the dishes such as arranging veggies, placing foods and the orientation of dishes when are served. This makes me can feel the ‘heart of service’ as well as the atmosphere itself. I may find that the interior here gives me a feel of cozy and want to be belonged to. Also the way how they use the interior to emphasis the foods with darker atmosphere. This makes me can taste the foods much more stimulating. As my observations from many restaurants, here is quite hygienic as I can see the staffs always clean up everywhere. So this makes me feel confident that taste is not the only thing that they deliver for clients.
Probably, I would visit more often when it is possible. And I would recommend the others to visit here as well.

So disappointing. Blooming Orchids replaced Emerald Buddha which sadly went out of business. Unfortunately my first visit will be my last. This is the definition of westernised Thai food. No explosion of flavours, no sweet/sour/salty/hot balance. The lemongrass beef had only the faintest taste of lemongrass. The chicken with chilli and basil had a watery sauce, the tiniest amount of chilli, and minimal basil flavour. Prices are very fair however, and the food may appeal to the masses but when I want Thai I want real Thai and this simply didn’t deliver.
