What a wonderful addition to the Essendon food scene! I visited yesterday and was super impressed. The interior is pretty, bright and welcoming and the staff were friendly. I had the Original Baby which was a blended bowl of aai, blueberries, banana, dates, peanut butter and almond milk. It came topped with fresh strawberries, coconut and a delicious granola. I really loved this bowl, so filling and such flavours. We also tried the Double PB smoothie which was amazing. Great consistency and the strong peanut butter flavour was perfect. The herbed chicken salad was also yummy, really flavourful and so fresh and healthy. The perfect place to stop in for lunch or breakfast, especially if youre on the run!
Ill be back!
I was invited to check out Bowls Baby on a beautiful Saturday morning. Bowls Baby is the newest in an already well established group of cafes including Pinkie, No 19 Society and St Rose.
The design of the eatery is fun and inviting with funky neon lights and surrounding splashes of pink. The menu focuses on health and wellness consisting of a range of smoothie bowls, smoothies and whole food bowls; with the option of dine in or take away.
Whilst everything on the menu looked absolutely amazing, I took advantage of the create your own bowl option as this is one of my favourite things to do. I chose to have brown rice as my base, cured salmon as my protein and toppings of avocado, beetroot, cherry tomatoes, edamame beans and spiced cauliflower, finished with a miso sesame dressing. The serving size was generous and the ingredients tasted super fresh.
Whilst Bowls Baby does not serve coffee, they do have a coffee smoothie, which I tried. The flat white smoothie contained espresso, vanilla protein, frozen yoghurt, milk and ice.
Overall, an enjoyable meal was had and the residents of Essendon are lucky to have this new trendy and health conscious dining venue if a takeaway meal if required.

It seems like the right time of year to be visiting a healthy brunch venue today. Located in Rose Street Essendon, Bowls Baby added some pink cheer to the surrounds and was attracting many a curious local when we arrive on a sunny Saturday morning.
You wont see coffee on the menu except in iced coffee smoothie form. The menu consists of various smoothie bowls with an ability to customise these, smoothies and shakes, and savoury poke/salad bowl. Ready made combinations or make your own.
Today we tried the Original Baby Breakfast bowl which combined aai berries, blueberries, banana, peanut butter, granola, coconut and strawberries. This would normally come with dates too but we asked for them to be omitted… dates seem to be in so many vegan dishes but are not FODMAP friendly and therefore not Kellie friendly. The ability to removed such items has to be commended.
We had the Double PB smoothie which was so delicious with the peanut butter, choc protein and banana. The Good Day was also delicious juice based smoothie and went perfectly with our savoury bowl.
We tried the Herbed Chicken Salad bowl and this was by far my favourite bowl of the day. Fresh and flavoursome chicken warmed with pesto, quinoa and a whole heap of other tasty salad ingredients. This is the kind of yummy salad bowl that would make you enjoy eating healthy. Too bad I dont work locally as I would come here often.
As far as sitting space there are two four seater tables out front and a bar with stools, and a central waiting space seat. So eating space for about 12 in total.
Thanks so much for inviting us in.
What a great concept from the legends at Pinkie, No.19 Society and St Rose. Its a simple concept packed full of flavour. Smoothie Bowls and healthy Super Bowls plus smoothies. Seating is limited but most people were grabbing their delicious bowls and heading off. The decor is on point, what one comes to expect from the awesome team. We enjoyed the Chipotle Super Bowl which was packed full of flavour and extremely affordable, so good! The smoothies were delicious and refreshing plus they have aircon inside which was heaven! Super close to Essendon train station too, so perfect for those that enjoy a ride on a train!
