LEGIT BEST COFFEE IN MELBOURNE! Great customer service, awesome food and everyone is always welcoming. Would definitely be back. Coffee is always amazing.
You usually hear them say you get what you pay for but todays experience left me in shock and horror.
Firstly being given the menu and asked twice within 2 minutes if we were ready to order made us hasten towards choosing a random meal. Not only that, but the same waitress that took the order seemed really lost, not knowing whos order is for who.
Upon receiving our meal, I stared at it with an are-you-kidding-me? look on my face.
$20 for a mountain of avocado on toast with 2 eggs?!
Thinking about it made me unintentionally count every bite for every dollar and thus feeling the need to eat slow so it lasts. Not only that but the mountain of avocado later made me feel gooey inside. All I can say is, thank god we didnt order coffee.

This shop certainly looks the part. It’s a nice atmosphere with friendly staff. Unfortunately each and every time I’ve bought a coffee here it has been terrible. The man behind the machine takes such pride in the machine and is so nice, but sadly it’s not enough. Food options are overpriced and ordinary. To me it seems like another case of if it looks trendy they will come. I’ve given it a fair go but I won’t return as there are some really good options within 20metres of this cafe.
Visited this caf for Sunday Morning Breakfast and sat at a table inside the waitress brought over some menus and took our drink orders. We all then ordered 2 lots of the Crepes, One Lot of the Hot Cakes and a Serve of Scrambled Eggs on Toast. We didn’t have to wait very long for the food to come out and also didn’t have to wait very long for our Coffees either. When the food came out it looked absolutely delicious and it tasted delicious. The Crepes were served with Strawberries and Maple Syrup and we asked for some Ice Cream on the side. The Hot Cakes were served with Fresh Strawberries and Blueberries and Maple Syrup and I asked for some Vanilla Ice Cream on the side. The Hot Cakes were big ones and very nice and fluffy and moist as well. (Some places the hotcakes/pancakes are not moist at all) but these ones definitely were. The Coffees were also served hot and they stayed lukewarm until the last mouthful was drunk. The only thing I didn’t like was we asked for our Coffees to be served in Mugs and they were served in the large glass cups. But The Coffee was still very nice. Their is a good range to choose from on the menu and it was very hard to choose what to eat. I will definitely be back for both food and also coffee. Will definitely stop and grab a caffeine fix from Matte Black next time I am walking past.
Such beautiful decor and very modern. The menu was awesome, it had so many breakfast and lunch options. The avocado dish came with a balsamic glaze which made it so unique. Adding the Sujuk to the dish took it to another level and the flavours were AMAZING. The Tim tam shake was really good and the service was impeccable. It changes the whole experience when the staff are friendly and generally care about your satisfaction. Would recommend!
