We went into the restaurant part of the establishment. Ordered beers and the draft taps weren’t working; so we got bottled beers which were old and stale. We were told by different waiters that different specials were no longer available, which was rather confusing. The meals took very long to arrive, so we enquired and they told us there were problems in the kitchen (only after we mentioned the delay). We asked for steamed vegetables and they came grilled. A beatle walked out of one of the salads. Informed the staff and she laughed. Michael

I tried Argo today after waking up with a craving for fish and chips but not wanting the usual greasy fare. THE GOOD: The fish was delicious and even the potato cake was well herbed. Could have done with a little more salt but everything has a slight lemony flavour which I like. The takeaway packaging was good and if you appreciate those little fancy touches, you’ll like Argo. THE BAD: I didn’t get what I ordered and paid for. This is an oversight I rarely forgive. THE UGLY: God, the door is annoying. The front server rolled his eyes at me when I asked for the menu.

A shame because the food is delicious and fresh.

The best seafood and fish and chips there is! Awesome customer service, the waiters are always really friendly. Try the fish or prawn curry!

Truly one of the highest quality fish restaurant in Melbourne. Friendly and lively atmosphere, great music and service. Would highly recommend the Fish Curry and the Mount Cook Salmon. When I inquired about the catchment sources of their fish, I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of their fish are local Australian fish! With some new selections from New Zealand as well.

Well worth the price and the menu has great variety for all fish and seafood lovers.

We ordered the gummy shark with rice and mixed leaves.
One grilled and the other battered.
Paid $32 in total for both, worth it? Probably not.
The gummy shark itself was $12 which I thought was overpriced. The fish itself definitely had a lot of fish meat but lacked flavour and juiciness.
The rice was actually the best dish out of all.
Wouldn’t return as there are many fish and chips that do great value for money and that are tasty.

I drove past Argo a few times within the year and thought Id give it a try. My partner and I went on an evening and were impressed with the interior and the setup of the restaurant. We were eager for some fresh and flavour full seafood. This wasnt the case however. I had ordered the gummy shark with rice and leafy greens which came to 17 odd dollars. The fish, bland and no flavour, I would say it was fresh though. The greens terrible, literally tastes like they came out of a packet from Safeway shoved on the plate, no dressing or oil. The stand out of the dish was the basmati rice which I extremely enjoyed (perhaps because of the fish not being great). I think the pricing is alittle step for what you get, however I would give these guys a second go to try some grilled salmon with the rice. Staff were attentive and welcoming. The only other thing that I would bring up is there automatic door which was annoying. Half the people who came in or out had issues entered and leaving. If you need a staff member to explain multiple times how to open the door, it ends the experience on a sour note.
