Delicious local chicken shop that Clifton Hill/Fitzroy North are lucky to have! Got a whole roast chook with 2 sides plus medium chips for $40 which was plenty for dinner for 2 plus leftovers. Chicken was simply seasoned and delightfully juicy with a simple stuffing. Roasted veg had delicious char and the mac and cheese was kept light with pureed cauliflower in the sauce. Make sure to sample the bright homemade hot sauces, the only real hint that you’d know this place is run by a former head chef of Mamasita!
Popped in for Friday lunch. Ordered a roast chicken roll, a beef bourguignon roll plus a side of roast veg. The veg was seriously good – excellently roasted with a hint of rosemary and nicely seasoned. The rolls were satisfying – I much preferred the moist roast chicken roll with gravy and slaw to the beef one which was a tad fatty and a smidge stingy. But overall, a good value little local with a small but quality range of roasted and baked goodies.
Ate here for the first time today and I’ll be back soon. Hands down the best rotisserie chicken I’ve had in Melbourne. The chicken sandwich has the perfect ratio of slaw:chicken, and the chips and gravy are unreal. Bar full of extra hot sauce and condiments is a rarity and added plus. Food is reasonably priced, portions are solid and service is sublime. I can definitely recommend a meal at Cookshop Rotisserie.
Taking the chicken shop to the next level! Meats are always delicious and the salads especially would fit right in at a hatted restaurant. Love the beetroot salad at the moment!
It’s also really reasonably priced considering how amazing the quality is. Love it!
Best new chicken shop, amazing salads, very affordable. Would love a delivery option as it is an easy healthy option for lunch and dinner. Homemade hot sauces and drinks are a bonus
go here few times a week as it’s across the road from the gym. delicious chicken every time. never dry – without fail. great sides. mac&cheese, ratatoullie, roast veg – all good. highly recommend. man’s a genius
Strolled in after my work out at the gym looking for something simple, filling, affordable and healthy. Cookshop ticked all of the boxes. Tucked on the corner in Clifton Hill, the outside is super unassuming but when you step in the smell of the chicken roasting on the charcoals makes your mouth water.
Cookshop is the self-respecting chicken shop, gone are the hormone pumped chooks and in their place are tender sophisticatedly seasoned chooks. I ordered the $10 chicken & salad combo (picking the delicious bean and corn salad that was mixed together with feta and radishes) I recommend talking to the staff about what they have on offer as I suspect it changes every day and since I was feeling famished the charcoal roasted vegetables (a mix of sweet potato, carrot, onion and beetroot) for $6 extra was too good to pass up. It was a huge meal for only $16. At the back of the counter, they’ve also got house-made hot sauces (The black sauce and home-style siracha were hot and flavoursome).
I would like to see more of these kinds of places. Something that takes cheap and nasty and elevates it to something more refined. Too often people think size and cost are the only things that matter and we forget about quality. I think the takeaway chicken shop needed this step up and keep that in mind when you visit, as it will make this a better experience for you.
I’ll be definitely going back. I would love to see them offering some deliveries as the winter kicks in as it’s directly on my way home.
