I had my 40th birthday party at Fireflies. I couldnt have asked for a better way to celebrate with friends and family especially because I booked the venue 2 weeks before my party. They assured me that it was enough time and that everything would be ok. Adam and Tina were very accommodating and made sure everything ran really smooth throughout the night. This hidden gem in Fitzroy North is a beautiful space. The old style venue boasts loads of character. The ambience from the tea light candles and yellow lights shining through the lead lights made the place look amazing. The food was delicious and plentiful. The beverages, well they were alcoholic and that’s the main thing. They had a good range. All in all I couldnt have asked for a better night. Highly recommend to anyone who wants an private function with no public.
WE had a bux party here a couple of weeks ago… Adam, who helped us is an absolute legend. Let us pretty much do whatever we wanted to do. The place is cool cause it has all these separated rooms so you can do your thing, have private chats and the best part (that I think) is the courtyard out the back. The food was good but the range of drinks he has at the bar was really impressive. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a bux turn or any other function. Its a good location as well on the Nicholson street so its easy to get cabs to somewhere afterwards.
This is definitely a hidden gem in Fitzroy North. The decor is lovely. Set in a beautiful old heritage building The food is delicious. The host said some of the recipes dated way back. We got to decorate the place ourselves. And the host was really nice. They even cut up the cake and hand it around to everyone.
I was so disappointed with this place. The vibe is wrong, the man at the bar was rude and I couldn’t wait to leave. I couldn’t believe how badly decorated the place was, considering it’s in a reasonable location.
Venue hire – Engagement Party Success!. My fiancee and I decided to have our engagement party (90 guests) at Fireflies and we weren’t disappointed. Tina and Adam did a great job assisting in the organisation and running of the night ensuring it all went smoothly and taking some of the load off us.
The team was friendly and many of our guest remarked upon how nice the venue was.
We choose the venue because of the clever layout which allowed for a main room with the bar and couches for some of the oldies to sit on, a room off to the side which made a perfect dance floor with DJ decks set up and this lead off to the courtyard, perfect for the younger crowd and those wanting to smoke.
I would highly recommend this venue.
Attentive staff and beautiful venue. We booked this bar for my daughter’s 21st in August for about 70 people and we were not disappointed. The staff were lovely and helped with decorations, welcoming guests and organising a gift table. They were incredibly attentive with food, and very generous with the drinks, and my daughter was very happy to see that they had rekordelig on the bar tab. The atmosphere was great and the layout of the place was perfect for a 21st as we had both young and old guests. There was a dancefloor set up in the side room but enough places for the adults to sit down and chat. Almost every guest I spoke to complimented us on the choice of venue and the food, everyone loved the decor (stained glass windows and exposed wood) and said that it fit the birthday girl’s personality.
Unimpressed!. We went to a party at this venue last month and were so disappointed we felt compelled to write this review. The owner/host was very ‘brisk’ with us all night and did not smile once, but it was not until we gently asked for a taxi to be ordered (it was 11pm and the venue is situated on a side street) that she treated us with utter condescension, refused, and suggested we instead walk to the main road and hail one ourselves! In talking to other guests there that night, we realised they had had similar experiences, including the birthday girl who was very embarrassed/upset.
Its disappointing to see a lovely venue, that is all about functions and hospitality, offering such poor customer service to its guests.
