A thoughtful, cohesive and well executed fit-out that feels extra special due to feeling like it came directly from the vision/imagination of the owners, instead of just following the typical Melbourne cafe fit-out trends. Similarly, a really interesting menu that I think doesn’t rely on standard dishes you see everywhere. It’s bold, rich, salty, mediterranean-focused food, and none of the dishes i’ve tried so far fall into the trap of adding too many ingredients in an attempt to be fancy/complicated – instead the enjoyment comes from properly seasoned elements, complementary flavours, and really good bread.

Fantastic food and lovely service!Went for drinks and stayed for dinner. The menu is small but everything they do is delicious. Super affordable, we’ll be back. Try the swordfish skewers!

My mates and I loved this place until we went to pay for our meals. We asked to split the bill and the manager told us to work it out ourselves. We were fine with that. When we told him how much we wanted to split it (evenly by $33.85 each) he replied back with “No I’m not splitting it like that. You’ll do $34”.Pretty sure you don’t get to round up our meals just because you have to punch numbers into an Eftpos machine. The tone was completely unreasonable and forceful which is what really made the experience bad for my mates and I.It’s 2019. We want bills split. It you can’t manage that as an establishment, don’t make the customer feel bad because you have to spend an extra 30 seconds on the Eftpos machine.

Just went for cocktails and some salumi in the bar. Great fun, great vibe, fun knowledgeable staff. Will come back as everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious!

I’m writing a review to add some balance as, while this place has the aesthetics all right, my visit a couple of months ago for breakfast was underwhelming and the 5 star reviews seem unjustified. Particularly as the menu doesn’t appear to have changed. When we visited the coffee was so-so and the cacio e pepe eggs could have packed way more punch. The braised beans with sausage was presented American-diner style and didn’t have the generosity or flavour I expected. It would be great to see the sausage and beans cooked together so the beans get some real flavour and the sausage could do with some more fat content. It all felt a little dry. And I know it’s an Italian joint and the soft, white and barely toasted bread is a riff on that, but we have amazing bread in Melbourne that makes great toast and it was sorely missed on the plate.
