Im am so so so incredibly disappointed in this place and the service (Stuart and some girl working Monday 7th Dec at front bar, other bar staff have been great). I just moved to Fitzroy and have been having an afternoon drink here with my family every day for the last couple of weeks and have had a great experience until now. We have eaten dinner here a couple times and love the T bone so I tried to order this over the phone for take away, but no go as they dont know us and thought this was a prank call. FAIR ENOUGH. So I said I would come down and order it and wait for it over the bar… when I got to the bar they told me they still dont know me (ok but im waiting for my meal) and only do EASY dishes like burgers and to personal friends. Why didnt you tell me this!!! Im never going back here ever again!!!!!!!!!!
Great local pub grub with an excellent choice in menu. Ordered the cheeseburger which was bloody smashing! Customer service was rather average, felt like we were troubling their social lives to order, which was a bit disappointing considering the locality of it.
I hadn’t been to the Lord Newry for a while and just revisited. It’s a great winter pub, warm & comfortable. We managed to get a table by the fireplace which made things even better. I had the Irish stew, it was melt in your mouth delicious. My partner had the chicken parma and was very happy with that. Mulled wine topped the night off.
I came across this little corner pub on the weekend with some friends. We decided to stop in and get some food. I opted for the trusty Parma and I can honestly say it was one of the best parmas I’ve had. Chips were crunchy and salad nice and fresh. We decided to have a few drinks and game off pool by the fire place as well. I highly recommend this little pub on a cold winters day with its two open fireplaces friendly staff and good food. We will be back!
Ahh sunday night in winter. Cosy pub, warm glow, mellow tunes and a cold beer – nothing better. Then as an added bonus my meal arrived. I heard there was a new chef onboard so decided to give the homemade pie a go. Delicious. My husband who can’t resist bangers and mash was equally as happy. We washed these down with a good, decent priced bottle of red. We will be back for sure. Thumbs up!
The Newry is a great little pub in Fitzroy North, the food use to be average but since they got a new chef it’s so so good!! Especially the bangers and mash and they do an amazing Parma and onion gravy! There’s a decent pool table and a fire place which makes winter nights so cosy. It’s a fav for my household and the staff really make it a welcoming place.
Not bad but not great….. We were looking for a nice old school pub, it is but is also lacking, it doesn’t have that lovely feel you get with some pubs, it might just need a bit of a revamp.
The food wasn’t bad, my husband enjoyed his steak with mushroom sauce but is happy to have his well done. I asked for medium to well (being pregnant) and it was certainly well done and had gone cold. Plus I was looking forward to T-bone as noted on the online menu but it was Sirloin which I’m not as much a fan of. The chips were nice and his salad and my veggies were both good. My son enjoyed his bangers and mash as well, overall is was ok but not impressive.
