  Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. My friends and I came here and had a 50% discount via Dimmi, and it was great value for money. Loved the ox tongue. I would normally have ox tongue at a Korean bbq restaurant which is thin cut but this thick cut surprised me.

  We just loved it!

  Having come in to give Basta a go after seeing it on restaurant of the month of Dimmi and reading the reviews we were expecting some home made style authentic Italian… and that is certainly what we got.

  For entrees we chose from the calamari and arachini both of which ouzed with flavour. The calamari smelt just as fresh as it looked and tasted. The sweet potato dressing beneath the arachini was splendid.

  For mains we had the gnocchi, tagliatelle, parpadelle and porchetta. The three pasta dishes were all incredible. The gnocchi in Napoli sauce tasted like real fresh tomatoes while the parpadelle tasted like Nonnas home made pasta. Absolutely delightful when balanced with the pork.

  For desserts we tried all and despite not being a fan of lemon meringue this was just delightful. The berries and pure balanced the well presented and delightfully baked meringue perfectly. The cannoli was absolutely splendid as was the tiramisu.

  Overall we loved our dining experience here, the service atmosphere and restaurant as a whole was fantastic.

  We will definitely be making another trip here when we get the chance.

  I must say, we were a little underwhelmed with this meal. It started really well – the chicken parfait was absolutely divine and the bread accompanying it was char grilled and drizzled in olive oil. The arancini were perfectly fried although a little bland. For mains, the asparagus, pumpkin and blue cheese risotto was a small serving and the consistency was a little wetter than what Im used to but it tasted nice. The gnocchi parcels themselves were really nice but the tomato sauce on top was average. It was as though theyd just dumped a tin of tomatoes on top and not reduced them or seasoned them. The gnocchi dish was below average. Also, the two main dishes took so long to arrive. For dessert, the apple pie came with amazing vanilla ice cream and the panacotta with a delicious berry compote. Overall, it was an ok meal but would not rush back. Still find Tipo 00 to be the best pasta in Melbourne.

  This cozy restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The pasta was delicious and the venue makes you want to stay for dessert and drinks afterwards. Reasonably priced and portions were enough.
