Ive been here a couple of times, because Im drawn by their Wednesday burger specials. Sadly though most of the menu here sounds much better than it tastes. Ive had one parma with chicken that was well-cooked, but the others have been dry. The parmas are also a bit small. The biggest letdown has been the pumpkin salad. It was a sad and bland bowl of mostly leaves.
The service however is good and the people are nice.
Decided to give this place a chance after I was devastated to find out that they had replaced Mr. Scruff’s. It provides a similar vibe to its predecessor with nicer decor and a more comfortable eating environment.
Interesting range of weekly specials, though hoping they would eventually come up with something a similar match to Scruff’s half price food on Wednesdays.
The house beer Foxxy lager ($10 pints usually unless on special – Tuesday when I went they were $6 @ 6pm) was quite nice. Easy drinking, reminded me a little of furphy’s.
Burgerwise had the ‘le big mac’. Like many other burger joints, using Pulp Fiction references to name their burgers (which isn’t a bad thing – I love that movie). It comes as a double but I added an extra patty. What can I say. It was good.. but it lacked that something special. Found the meat quality to be slightly subpar…it was way too dry which is a big no no for burgers in general. That put me off. Though the lettuce was crisp and juicy, and the cheese and sauces were a pleasant combination.
Also tried the fried mac n cheese balls which were pretty good..the outer crumbing was a tad salty but the inner gooey cheesy goodness was heavenly.
Whilst not as good as their predecessor at this stage, I can definitely see some promise in this place.
This place is still newly opened, once they find their feet I feel they will be a force to be reckoned with.
