Grub is so quintessential Melbourne with its vintage and mismatched knick-knacks, furniture, cutleries and decor. Despite all the randomness of the place, everything just falls into place to create a cosy and charming place to relax and brunch.
I came here for the Sweet Set featuring sweets from Sticky Fingers Bakery and savouries and drinks from Grub. Since this is a review for Grub, I’m just going to mention the latter.
The Raspberry Spritz was a delicious and refreshing drink to whet our appetites for what’s to come. The savoury platter comprised of 4 small bites – Beef Tartare, Blue Cheese Profiterole, Smoked Fish Pate and Chorizo Sausage Roll. The latter two were excellent – well-rounded flavours, and delicious mouthfeel. I loved the pungent and creamy Blue Cheese Profiterole too, but some might find the smell and taste too overpowering. The Beef Tartare was good, but was overshadowed by the other amazing three bites.
We paired the sweets with a latte and batch brew. Couldn’t fault either of them. The batch brew had a slight fruity flavour, and was really easy to drink.
Amazing hospitality by the 3 staffs serving us, all of them were super friendly and lovely to chat to. Grub deserves two thumbs up for organising such a wonderful event. Looking forward to next year.
