This is the best Ethiopian food that I have had in Footscray so far. The meat curries and dhal were so delicious. My only issue was that the food was pretty cold when served. Service was okay. The atmosphere is very casual, perfect for an impromptu catch up where you don’t want to be rushed through your dining experience. Generous servings and very reasonable prices. Would absolutely go back.
Best Ethiopian we’ve had in Melbourne
Very friendly staff with smiles on their faces
Relaxed atmosphere
The mixed meat with injera was so delicious and filling we couldn’t finish it
Injera is light, fluffy and a lovely lemony taste
Highly recommended, we’ll be back!
First time having an ethiopian food. Its very interesting the place reminds me of a traditional family run establishment. The dishes are great. A little bit in the spicy side. Finally got the chance to try an ethiopian soundough bread. It works well with the meat / curry dish.
The food was great, the owner came to speak with us directly and even hand fed us injera in the traditional Ethiopian way. Overall fantastic customer service and ambiance.
Came along during Melbourne’s Food and Wine festival and was delighted. Gorgeous family feel, tiny cafe but feels cosy rather than cramped. The food was divine, will definitely be returning 🙂
Fantastic African restaurant in a town that is dominated by African restaurants.
A word of advice, don’t try to order take away over the phone, it never ends well. Just go in, be served by the lovely student who does her homework in between taking orders and enjoy the food. The take away menu is much more limited anyway so you will be missing out if you don’t eat in.
The dishes are very filling. My 6ft 3 partner and I order a salad, entree and meat dish of some sort and always walk out stuffed. Our favourites are Special Tibs (cubed lamb with onion, rosemary, garlic, and jalapeno peppers on a hotplate) and the spicy lamb curry (without the butter).
We also highly rate the vegetarian platter (veganised) and the Sega Firfir (spicy lamb stew with tomato, garlic and onion tossed with injera). Plus, sometimes they have live music, which adds to the experience.

Not bad but not amazing, the service is great but the food depends on what you order.. I had the meat combo for 2 $40 the lamb in most didn’t taste right the tibs wasn’t chilli like it usually is, but overall a few of the dishes are nice.
