Good solid claypot rice. Large portions for a good price. I liked the prawn claypot rice, although I would of preferred more sauce to go with it to mix with the rice. Perhaps would of liked a bit more charring on the rice but was good enough to fix any cravings.
A little annoyed that they didn’t have some items on the menu available as we specifically came for them. Mud Crab & noodles and fried Flounder both not available. Started with hot and spicy soup which was underwhelming. Request was met for a customised Salt and pepper prawns with shell on at an additional cost. This was delicious accompanied with salty fish fried rice and duck fried rice. Both very good. Our clay rice dish didn’t come with rice but with glass vermicelli noodles. My parents couldn’t be bothered questioning so we just ate it. Overall all the dishes were well balanced and tasty. Stars marked down for the customer service. Not one friendly staff member. Our waiter was very abrupt to the point of being rude. My dad asked for wine glasses twice and was told sternly to wait twice! It was as though the waiter was very bothered by this request even though they do charge for corkage. Let’s just say hospitality is not his forte. Get out of the industry dude and stop being angry!
My score 4.0 stars. J and I had lunch here on Wed 3rd of July (the place was fairly busy). This is their new place, which hasn’t been open for that long. Menu prices shown are way out of date (add $3-4 dollars on claypots) and many of the photos in the general section are from the previous location! Young woman who served us was nice and polite, brought free Chinese Tea to us (which tasted nice). Place was clean, but fairly basic – cutlery, crockery, etc. was new.Prawn ball and tofu claypot rice – Home made prawn balls (YUM), nice thin pieces of tofu, nice light chilli sauce (but not enough of it). Crunchy rice on base was super YUM! Mixed veg claypot rice – Bok choy/2+ sorts of mushrooms/wombok/thin tofu (all really nice), spring O, broccoli, carrot and baby corn. Had less crunchy rice than the Prawn ball version (pity). There was some kinda sauce, but it wasn’t very strong – was better with added chilli sauce! Their chilli sauce on the tables was FAB (but pretty hot) – not like Sriracha and not like Chilli oil.Good affordable food, we’ll be back…
This is a traditional Chinese restaurant, so expect good food but basic decor. It gets busy but the staff do their best to find you a seat. I came here for their claypot rice which was perfect and reminded me of claypot rice in Hong Kong. I love claypot rice when its fully crispy around the sides and this one was exactly that. I had the XO Prawn claypot rice (spicy!) and Combination Seafood claypot rice. Also had a chicken soup as an entree. Portion size is filling and its value for money. Will definitely be back.
I came here three times in two weeks. It’s THAT good! For entree, I love their hot and sour soup, it’s a bit on the spicier side but so warm and delicious. The clay pot dishes are their specialty here. My recommendations are the black bean spare rib clay pot, the satay beef fillet clay pot and the prawn balls clay pot. Make sure to order extra Chinese sausage on top for extra deliciousness! Their homemade chili sauce is a must when mixing the clay pot together, it’s makes it much more tastier with that extra zing of spice Two clay pots both with extra Chinese sausage on top and hot and sour soup, costed $39 altogether. A bit on the pricier side as a clay pot is $12.5 not including extras for sausage
