We’re regulars at Lucky 8 and we’re always treated very well. The service is terrific, we are often treated with complimentary prawn crackers and/or soup. Yum. I believe the owner has a good heart and always does his best. We have never had a bad meal. Always feel welcome. Definitely give this place a try.

I have been here several times for lunch and dinner and would like to comment on their food and service for being exceptional in Cantonese style cooking with a great value and exceptionally quick service. The owner always and without a miss always comes and attend to you with a great attitude and service for a restaurant without that hefty price tag. Next time you come to Footscray I would say try their fried noodles or hor fun for lunch or they have a great array of menu to choose from for dinner for those who wants and value Cantonese quick and no thrills. They also have a $68.80 dinner meal deal which is by far one of the better deals in a Cantonese restaurant in Melbourne. I

Excellent service, the owner could not have been friendlier. Great food, we had pigs ear salad, minced pork hotpot & spicy beef & bean curd . One of the best Chinese options in Footscray

Excellent place. Had crab with egg noodles there. Excellent. And then followed by sweet and sour pork, fried rice, tofu and prawns. The waiter / owner was friendly and service was great. Would recommend as I eat on footscray every weekend and this is one of the top places for Chinese food!

I tried this place out for lunch today and I wasn’t overly impressed with the food. I ordered what was essentially fried kway teow and as I’m not a fan of beansprouts, I had this removed. However, I wasn’t left with much else besides a lot of noodles, sesame seeds, a bit of beef, oil and a few stalks of spring onion. Despite the fact that it was a bit too oily for my liking, it did actually taste quite decent but I was definitely disappointed by the lack of meat and greens.

My dad ordered the lemon chicken and whilst it was on the $6.80 lunch menu, we did expect a bit more than chicken pieces on a huge slab of white rice. The presentation in itself was quite drabby and the lack of vegetables didn’t help either. My dad did pass on some feedback in regards to the lack of veggies and the response was that ‘it was too expensive’ to add.

Ordered the mapo tofu from the lunch specials and I was really impressed by the taste and the generous portion! Chunks of soft tofu, mince, shitake mushroom in a tasty spicy sauce. Glad it wasn’t super oily like some versions can be. The side soup was delicious in between mouthfuls of rice. It’s crazy this dish was just $6.80! For a satisfying, cooked to order meal with a soft drink and free tea for $8.80 this place is fantastic!! Im wondering why I haven’t tried this place sooner.

Was formally Called Chuan Wang restaurant not sure if it was just a name change or new ownership as I have never eaten at this address before . I have given this restaurant a high school because of the service.

I had Special Fried Rice as well as the Honey & Pepper Beef The rice was a bit oily but had a good flavor enenthough the pepper steak had a bit too much pepper I still enjoyed the meal for the most part. The owner of the restaurant asked me how the food was and I told him about the beef and he thanked me and said he would say something to the chef. When I was finished eating he asked if I wanted to take the rest home which I need when he came back with the food he said he had tasted the dish and he agreed with me about the pepper.

When I leaving the restaurant the owner opened the door for me & wished me goodnight.

I will definitely be back to try the some of the other dishes

On a side note a lady ordered takeway and as she was waiting the owner offered a glass of water while she was waiting
