Was craving for some authentic Filo food and Lutong Pinoy didn’t disappoint! 🙂 I enjoyed the dinuguan and lechon paksiw OMG! I travelled back to the Phils with my tastebuds. We were both looking forward to the halo-halo but there was no ube ice cream (which is reasonably hard to find here in Aus) so all good.
IF YOU PLAN TO GIVE IT A GO, BRING CASH!!! They only accept cash which surprised us cos it was stated here that they accept cards. lol
Also one downside is that it’s literally inside Footscray Market. If you’re fussy with ambience, better to go with takeaway and eat at home. Nonetheless, they’re food tastes wonderful for a cheap price!
Nice little Filipino shop tucked inside the Footscray market. Always a great place to stop by and grab a small bite or take some food away before heading home from a market shop. There’s another Filipino/Vietnamese shop on the other side of the dining floor which serves similar dishes however Lutong Pinoy we think specialises more in the deserts area as they have several options available like the Turon $3.0 and the Gintan $5.0 (bit foggy on pricing as we can’t remember how much we paid but is roughly right). A favourite would be the Dinogoan (won’t explain what it is) which at times is a hit and miss depending on what they put in it and how much vinegar and Chilli is added along with soup consistency however it comes down the preference and taste. The shop is owned by a family and are very friendly and helpful when it comes to explaining what things are and what you should try.
If you like Filipino food, worth giving this place a sample if you’re feeling like something different. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!
Always guaranteed an authentic Filipino meal at this gem of a place. Really like their sinigang (tamarind sour soup). If you are lucky, you can try some Filipino desserts like cassava cake and puto (steamed rice muffin).
