This is a nice comfortable Vietnamese restaurant – not nearly as packed in as some of the others in Footscray, and so much more comfortable if youve got kids. Its a little pricier than some, but still in the realms of reasonable.
Food was a bit of a mixed bag. Great fresh lemon sodas, and our entree courses were great – pippis in xo sauce, and some soft shell crab. A bit more donut to eat the xo sauce would have been welcome though.
For mains, I had a pork and prawn Vietnamese pancake and wasnt crazy impressed. It wasnt terrible, just didnt blow me away and was a bit heavy on the onion. But I tried a chicken rib from someone elses plate at the table and it was very good, if a little heavy on the batter. Someone else had an excellent broken rice.
So I think we will return, but Ill try something different next time.
First Monday of 2019 and the city still is in holiday mode. It was sort of random choice on our way to home about 6pm. Ordered Tom yum soup to start, chicken ribs with tomato rice and beef ribs with fried rice and fresh coconut water. Must say I enjoyed it a lot. Chicken was cooked well and beef was a tad too sweet to my liking. Soup was just ok. Overall its nice food, casual atmosphere, nice clean decor, and importantly friendly staffs who are attentive to you. Will go again.
A great, relaxing and not over-priced Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Footscray, close to the train station. We had an early dinner based on the Chef’s board specials – Grilled Fish (Ling) & Dill, Hanoi La Vong style (came with a separate bowl of vermicelli noodles, Vietnamesemint and lettuce and sauce) and Salt & Pepper Tofu. Tasty and cooked to perfection! The waiter was thoroughin our order, which included drinks, and we loved the oldies background music! Highly recommend.
I had the chicken and salted fish fried rice. It was amazing. The wok breath technique has been used to perfection to get the lovely charred rice flavor. Chilli oil was great too. Didn’t try anything else but very glad for their world class fried rice.
Shop location was good, just opposite to Footscray station. Shop decor was modern. Staff was friendly. Agreed with other posts saying that the portion of food was rather small and rice was dry and cold. Deep fried squid was the winner of the night that we had to order one more serve. Deep fried ice cream was delicious too.
We used to like this place a lot, but it has changed. You can’t run a busy restaurant with 2 wait staff who speak little English. The mains came out before the entrees and the rice were all cold when they came out. After complaining about the rice being cold they offered to microwave the leftover rice. Never coming here again
Me and a friend split the salt and pepper chicken spare ribs with yellow rice (fried rice with egg), and I think (?) the broken rice with double grilled pork chops. The S&P chicken was really good, however, the pork chops were average (and forgettable). Would definitely come back for the S&P chicken, but not sure about any thing else. Interior is nice and clean, with good lighting. The restaurant itself is easy to get to, being pretty much opposite Footscray station.
