Forest Hill Chase had promoted that the people from District Brewers in Bentleigh were planning to bring serious coffee to forest hill chase, however, in a very odd turn of events, this cafe only opened for around 10 days and then appeared to just take off overnight!
The space looked fantastic with a great location outside the entry to Hoyts Cinemas.
I had tried coffee and breakfast there and, although it was average, it was nice to be able to enjoy a cooked breakfast at Forest Hill Chase in a nice new trendy setting.
This place gets the prize for being the only cafe Ive ever know to be open for less than two weeks! I feel sorry for the staff who probably lost their jobs just before Christmas, which is the reason I felt compelled to write this review.
The centre management made out that the store was only ever a pop up store, but given NBRHD Eatery was on all their advertising for the new top floor precinct, I highly doubt this. A pop up store wouldnt spend so much money on proper fixed signage and set up. Centre Management were quick to remove references to this cafe from their website and social media.
On a separate but related note, I noticed that San Churros has on their website a franchise opportunity in the new precinct at Forest Hill, so hopefully the precinct will eventually get a place to have a coffee as there is no decent coffee in the entire top floor.
