I was here in July as part of wedding festivities.
Many of us stayed in the hotel and were not afraid to splash cash around. We spent big on food, the best rooms, and drinks at various times. The night before the wedding we ate here, Perhaps a table of almost 20, ordering ala carte 2-3 courses, its a big ask for the kitchen to be honest.
But first I must mention the dinning room of the restaurant, it is absolutely stunning, in a older style it felt
like being in first class on the titanic. The food was okay given what was demanded, the wagyu could be so much better with a less is more concept, cherry tomatos and lots of rocket do little, i was thinking truffle pecorino, EVO, capers, shallot and maybe horse raddish aoli and a little rocket.
My lamb was cooked fine but its like the pan with potatoes had run out by the time my plate was plated so I got about half a kipfler.
Food wasn’t bad, but there were issues with the service.
They sent out chips free as it was going to be a while, Aoli was nice, and it was a good gesture.
Some people missed their entrees and the bride to be got the wrong steak.
Given the occasion and the money we spent in a 3 day period someone should have really made sure everything was the best it could be.
You remember the chips I mentioned?
The empty plates were still sitting on our table two hours later during dessert.
The staff are willing to please just lack a little direction and some basics.
Hotel is slowly being updated and is fine.
