I recently visited Viva at The Chase Hotel in the hopes of having a nice meal before seeing a movie. I have a few allergies and intolerances, so it’s often hard for me to find a meal I can eat. Most cafes and restaurants are extremely helpful and understanding however Viva was not. I should have known something was off about the place from the reception the waitress gave my mother and I when we first arrived – her demeanour was rude and disinterested. She practically threw our menus at us. When we went up to order I asked whether I could order the salt and pepper calamari gluten free (at most places you can). All she said was ‘no.’ extremely rudely and as my face flushed with embarrassment while I tried to search for something else on the menu I could eat, she walked off in a huff leaving me mortified and my mother furious. She didn’t even offer a recommendation for another meal I might be able to eat (which is what most wait staff at restaurants and cafes have done for me in the past). Needless to say we went somewhere else (and got a MUCH better reception). I definitely do not recommend this restaurant, especially if you have any allergies or intolerances. I understand that cafes and restaurants cannot cater to all dietary requirements and I don’t expect them to. I do, however, expect understanding and not to be treated like a waste of time when I ask a simple question pertaining to my ability to eat certain dishes.

The food is exceptional restuarant quality but with a home feel cooked to exactly what you order. Enjoyable lunch or dinner all round well done !!!!
