The fish here was pretty good and the scallop I had was beautiful. The problem was that the serves are small – like really small. The size of the meals makes the value pretty poor. We paid $36 for 2 fish and chips, 2 cans of coke and 1 scallop. Great looking venue however the upstairs could go with a spruce up and a good clean. Still, it is nice to eat on the water.
It’s so pricely comparing to the other f&c, and the service is so un-freindly, grilled fish is too oily, afull of disappointment, dont understand why it’s so popular.
Boathouse is the perfect place for a quick feed of fish and chips by the waterfront. Fish was tasty and chips were perfectly cooked and crunchy. Reasonably priced for butterfish and chips,
a no frills meal that satisfied cravings. Seating outdoors but if it’s a nice day you can sit on the grass and enjoy your purchase as takeaway.
The experience I had at Geelong’s Boat House Fish and Chips was great, the staff were all very chirpy and nice, the restaurant was clean and the food was well cooked!
Being right next to the water I thought this was the place to go for fish n chips in geelong! How wrong I was.. chips were mushy, had frozen fake calamari rings, the only thing that was ok was the barramundi. Very overpriced for the quality received. $15 for a burger and chips and $8.50 for a fairly small size of fish.
Don’t be fooled by the exterior
Average service. Actually more likely a self-service. A little bit disappointing about their venue which at first i thought it was a actual boat flooding on the sea but its just fixed building not even a real boat. I had a fisherman basket which was ok.
$30 = two serves of fish, chips for two and 3 calamari rings. For a take away style, I wasn’t impressed with the price. And $1 per serve for tomato sauce and tartare (tartare seemed like it was watered down).
Fish was okay. But was never asked how we’d like it cooked.
Calamari was THE WORST calamari I’ve had, it looked and tasted like reconstituted squid (with random other seafood pieces), encased in a cheap batter. I honestly could have had better from a box in the grocery store freezer section.
Service was pretty abysmal – and the woman behind the counter could use some customer service training.
I certainly won’t be going back to this place.
