I have dined at Caruggi several times, it is in my top 10 restaurants in geelong cbd to grab dinner.
Each time I have received good service and the whole restaurant has had a lovely relaxed ambiance.
Unfortunately I have only had the pappardelle because it was just so delicious the first time!
Anyone I have dined with though has enjoyed a variety of other dishes! There is a great range of entrees or snacks to start, my personal favourite is their focaccia col formaggio, crispy salty and cheesey! Perfect!
Been a returning customer for a while now, I have to say I am inlove with their Focaccia Col Formaggio! It is such an authentic dish, it tastes beautiful, would recommend to everyone great to share. My favourite main and a classic Italian dish the Zuppa di pesce, which is always so tasty, always served with the freshest shell fish in a beautiful broth what a treat. The staff are always helpful and are great at recommending things! Recently discovered the chef started to make their own pansotti, which is to absolute die for, Extremly tasty ravioli with the famous Walnut sauce that Caruggi have executed perfectly. All in all it is lovely restaurant to dine in, has a delightful atmosphere, lovely service, and amazing Italian food. Highly recommend!!!! @Caruggi
We had the cuttlefish ink linguine with seafood. While the seafood was fresh and well cooked, the linguine was bland. The biggest disappointment was the affogato which was served cold! When we questioned it, we were told that that’s how it’s served ‘traditionally’! Mmm that’s interesting because it’s one of my favourite desserts and I’ve had it at many restaurants with many different variations, but always served with hot expresso coffee. Disappointing.
Went here Tuesday 12th of Jan and had a beautiful meal with 5 others. We all thoroughly enjoyed our dishes and received attentive, friendly service. I had the seafood salad starter which had perfectly cooked scallops, mussels, prawns and octopus tossed with a zingy and fresh tomato+green leafy salad. Hubby had the pumpkin truffle risotto which was truly delectable!! In laws had the ragu and the umbra pizza which had rich flavours without being too heavy. True Italian cuisine!! Brother in law had the tasty prosciutto pizza. Highly recommend this place – it is the best Italian restaurant in Geelong.
