Popped into the Eastern spice one Friday evening spontaneously. So glad we did! Real Authentic Indian. We were so impressed with the food, decor and friendly service. Try to get a seat next to the big windows for nice view. The Khadai Murg was absolutely delicious!!!
Stopped on our way back from Great Ocean drive to Melbourne. The reviews were deceiving. Ill break down my review for the food and service we received.
Food: Ordered chai and onion bhaji for starters and were really food.
Main: Daal makhani (had to order 2 serves) as the quantity was tiny after we ordered the first one and daal tasted as if it was cooked the previous night. Paneer and korma were good. The breads came soaked in butter. We ordered plain rice and got severed stale jeera rice.
Service: The waiting staff looking after our table was arrogant as. We asked for recommendations on starters and We were told everything was on the Menu.
We were not asked for the levels of spice we prefer. Presumption are not helpful in the hospitality service especially restaurants.
At the time of settling the bill, the same wait staff didn’t return the change and asked my father if he tips. The audacity the person has for the service provided was unfathomable.
Indian food is known for honesty in flavor of the food and service. Please live up to to at least either one and stop begging for tips when you can’t keep up the quality of food.
Will not recommend this restaurant to anyone!
To be honest, an hour wait for food is just not acceptable, especially when you bring children, arrive & order at 6pm. They werent busy at this time. The food, once it arrived, was ok. The service was fine until he realised we were getting impatient & he made himself unavailable. Sorry, but the whole experience was just a bit of a let down, which was a pity as it was an important family get together 🙁
My favourite Indian restaurant in Geelong. A select, strong menu that is very authentic. I absolutely enjoy the food and the ambience. I celebrated my birthday there this year, and they had decorated the table, which was a nice touch.
We had a really excellent work dinner here. Just before Christmas but impeccable location, right near Geelong foreshore. We started off with ‘Papdi Chaat’ and Somosas. Papdi Chaat was delicious, a mix of textures. We had a pork vindaloo and fish curry with basmati rice, mint and yoghurt plus naan as sides. Very nicely cooked, so prompt too! Excellent place.
We have to say it is a great addition to the Indian food in Geelong great taste and flavours will be back.staff members are very good and helpful
From the moment you walk in, you’re hit with the rich fragrances of all the herbs and spices. Good, friendly and attentive service. Had the lamb rogan josh and a serving of rice. Rogan josh was tasty, full of flavour and generous servings of lamb. Rice was a bit dry but didnt matter when mixed with the curry
