Came here for an anniversary dinner, seated in the best spot in the restaurant. Steak was melt in your mouth, red wine & cocktails also great.
Excellent service and terrific food. They have a 2 course special for $28 on a Friday which is worthwhile . The pork belly with sriracha sauce was amazing.
This is quite a late post…
Last Tuesday, my super friends and I finally had the chance to have a catch-up dinner. First time for us three to dine in Empire Grill. We weren’t sure if reservations were required but we just walked in, luckily there’s not much people that night. Not quite sure if there’s parking available at the back but we managed to get parking by the streets. I haven’t been to a lot of fine dining restaurants, but I think it is to expect that the lighting would be a bit mellow. I’d say it’s appropriate to set the mood to relax and just enjoy the night.
So, we decided to try different entre. We had Crispy Pork Skin(?-can’t remember much, just check the photo), Char Grilled Haloumi, and Crispy Fried Tofu. We thought each dish tasted amazing. We tried eating the Haloumi and Tofu together, and to our surprise, it actually tastes better when combined! For the main, we all had the special of the day – Wagyu Beef Steak, which we thought was cooked to perfection! The Goat Cheese Croutons, for us was the second star of the dish. It was divine! The desserts list looked amazing, but we thought we’ll try somewhere else for dessert, so we did.
The service was very timely, and the staff were very accommodating. We were thinking of dining here at least once a month to try everything on their menu. It was definitely a great dining experience!
Nothing like it used to be. No love given to the meals anymore and surely it’s time for a decor revamp?? It was once my top restaurant pick, these days there are way better places in Geelong to dine.
The servings in this restaurant are too small. I had a vegetarian Camembert and it was very small. My husband had a steak and slits in the meat to see if cooked properly. I do this at home but I would not expect this to happen in a restaurant. He asked for medium but it was more well done. On the side he had a tablespoon (not exaggerating) of vegies. The food was delicious – there was just not enough of it. Service was good.
Group Booking. The service was good and so was the dessert BUT the main course of beef cheeks was cold. Everyone at our table had cold beef cheeks that were under cooked and chewy. Very disappointingly! On the same night a friend was with another group at the Empire Grill and she had a similar experience. Perhaps groups do not complain so they are served sub standard food?
Fantastic. Truly one of the best restaurants in Geelong and best service you’ll ever get. Excellent food and atmosphere
