    Hi!

We ate at Fishermen’s Pier recently and took some international guests. We wanted to show them what is G-towns nicest fresh seafood restaurants.

Unfortunately, despite previous reviews it wasn’t the best however this was predominantly due to front of house, the kitchen managed ok.

Firstly we were seated and all seemed great. After a while I looked around and noticed we had been forgotten already and the restaurant wasn’t even full.

We asked for water, wine and menus…. another 30 minutes passed before we managed an order! While waiting the waiter kindly topped up the wine and knocked a full glass of water into the lap of one of our female guests, no further comment.

Our food arrived and we ended up eating fairly quickly as we had been there three hours from seating and that was for a two course dinner, oh and someone had a wet lap!

Over all, the food was good and the night was slow. We’ll give Fishermen’s Pier a break for a bit I think.

Lovely views and service, but overall there was nothing mindblowing about the experience.

The food came out quickly although the restaurant was very quiet for Saturday lunch. I got the soft shell crab which was spot on and the accompanying pickled cucumbers were refreshing. I also ordered the pan fried king george whiting which was delicate and crisp, however everything on the plate was too salty.

Food and service is nice. View is beautiful.

On a sunny day, when we feel like a drive, we have gone to Fishermens Pier for lunch. We’ve never booked and have managed to get a seat (2 people) . This is great when planning is up in the air and you just feel like it in the day.

There isn’t a particular dish I go there for. I’ve ordered different things off the menu and have gone for their specials too. I’ve enjoyed all dishes.

For our last trip, we had was the lobster: served half with butter / garlic sauce. The other half natural. When it was served, I regretted not doing the whole thing as garlic and butter though.

The wine list gets a double tick from me as hubby really likes a particular wine there.
