Thought I’d give this place a second chance after the disappointment from last time. Firstly, the wait staff knelt down yo take our order… Not sure if that’s a thing at hog’s breath but she was also quite rude and unpresentable, almost zero acknowledgement when ordering and when the food arrived she would just place it on the table without saying anything then leaving the dishes at the edge of the table, when we asked for empty plates to share she didn’t seem very happy lol food was quite nice except the chicken was starting to go off as it tasted a bit unusual, unfortunately the management hasn’t improved since 2 years ago. Wouldn’t go back.
I lunched here today & I chose their Crumbed Chicken with Brie cheese (small serve) for $21.95. The overall meal was just average, I seriously don’t know why I’d expected anything better. My food was served hot (not steaming hot) within 10 minutes of ordering. The service provision was excellent by Josh who was obliging, very friendly and who appeared to be happy in his role. The background music was at a level that could be heard over easily and the old style dcor was truly eye-catching.
The Juror’s Verdict: Food 3/5, Service Provision 4/5, Will I return: Maybe

Great hogspitality . Nice location and decor with their familiar well tuned set up.
Medium Rare Streak all round for everyone (they do not rare due to their 18hr precook )
Have tried the hickory smoked sauce before and wasn’t a fan (sauce on a steak not cooked on )
This time i tried the blackend steak, which was a rub put on the steak, i imagined a char blackened steak, but that was not the case , actually there was no char at all on it.. Otherwise the steak was very very tender.
At the change of shift our waiter handed over to the new one and told us so and introduced her to us.
Food was pretty good. Tried the pear salad but they forgot the caramelized almonds which i was looking forward to buy didnt realise until i ate most of the salad. Staff was great and very kid friendly. Had an activity table set up over Easter and gave the kids a choc bunnie too. Coffee was pretty awful though.
My wife and I have been here more than 10 times in the space of 4 years, each and every time, the steaks were to die for, granted on 1 occasion they ran out of steak but they offered us one of their specials which happened to be 2kgs of baby back ribs which were delicious! We were there on Sunday and once again fantastic, the kind service, the not too long wait for food and the quality, we can’t fault it, you pay a little extra but you’re paying for both quality and quantity it’s amazing
Everytime Ive been here the steak has been fantastic! This time it wasnt fantastic! My steak came out and it was fatty and unchewable. I should have returned it. But after waiting a long time to receive our meals… byu the time they came my baby was already bored and ready to throw a tantrum… so we ate it quickly and went home. When you are paying over $150 for 2 meals and 2 lots of desserts you expect that the food is going to be great! Not average. My mash seemed like it was powered – I could be wrong… if it wasnt – it wasnt very nice. My vegetables were also raw… I couldnt eat them!
First Impression. I was there for dinner, and I was in need of a good steak. As I entered the restaurant I saw a very spacious interior which was clean and prepared for the evening rush of customers. I was met by a smilling waitress who led me to my table, when I sat I saw the assortment of booths and tables neatly covering the floor space and believe the arrangement would be adequate and not over crowded if filled to capacity. A different waitress came to my table to take my order and again she presented me with a beautiful smile. I ordered the Aussie Prime Traditional Steak medium rare and a glass of Stoney Creek Shiraz from our neighbours in Sth Aust. The wine was served promptly and a complementry glass of iced Lemon water was offered at the same time. While I waited for my steak I took in my surroundings and saw customers spread out around the floor eagerly talking while the good selection of 80’s and 90’s music played in the background. I noticed the various Televisions strategically placed around the venue so no matter where you sat your attention would be drawn to at least one. Hog’s Breathe have been delivering this service since 1989 and it is refreshing to see how far they have come since then. The walls are adorned with Football and Motor racing memorabilia, old licence plates from various states in the USA and offers of free parking on certain days, $9.90 lunches, free eating for the kids Monday’s and Tuesday’s and for the adults a Frequent Diner Card offering 25% off of main meals. Now before I finish my review, I in no way work or have any connection to this business, in Victoria or any state or territory in Australia in fact the world, I am merely a wandering customer. With that out of the way, it brings me to my conclusion, my meal was perfect I enjoyed every piece of food that was on my plate, sorry I lie the onions are not my thing so I didn’t eat them, the wine was a good quality, the service was a little slow from the time I ordered my food to the time it was sitting on my table 30 minutes transpired, I will never get that back. However from the mouth of the Hog’s Breathe Franchise this is more than a meal it is an experience. Adios
