This place is recognized as one of Geelong finest. The portion was generous. The steak is served with beer battered fries and salad. The fries was excellent even though the steak was just ok.
Wandered in on a hot Thursday for lunch. There were only two other tables of diners. Ordered the lamb souvlaki and chips and my husband had a chicken parmigiana. Meals were slow to arrive and whilst the Parma was nice, presentation was lacking. Souvlaki was below average, lacked garlic sauce, there was a paltry amount of salad in with the meat and as for the wrap, it was dry! Waitress was friendly and helpful but food needs improvement.
We arrived Saturday night and pleasantly surprised meals went to 9pm. The tapas were fantastic and the main meals were very nice. The Tagline was a little stodgy though. The service was fantastic and very friendly. Would recommend the lord Nelson to everyone.
First thing i will say is that we arrived on a Saturday night without a bookings. The restaurant was busy however they made a choice to seat us. We were seated and told that it was table service. After 20 minutes we had a waiter come over to take our food order. After ordering food we asked if we could order drinks. Drinks were ordered and came out quickly. Garlic ciabatta’s arrived shortly after. Kids meals came out quickly but were eaten and dessert served and finished before adult meals came out. Adult meals took approximately 58 minutes from ordering to come out and then came out with the wrong description of what they were. After this was able to be corrected at the table we were disappointed that they were standard meals, nothing that we would tell friends about. Worst part was seeing a table seated after us order well done steaks and have their meals arrive before ours.
The Restaurant was FREEZING!!!! That is a big no, no for me!!!! I hate being cold… so to sit there for a couple of hours being cold is not a nice experience. The food was just ok… nothing special! I had the steak and it was bad!! Undercooked – so I barely ate any of it! The meals took a while to come out so I was disappointed when the food was bad!
I had never been to this pub before although I have lived in Geelong for 15 years. When we arrived our table was not ready and we were told we’d be seated shortly and to grab a drink. Forty minutes later we were seated next to the door that goes to the bottle shop so every time it opened it was like a wind tunnel. Our food took an hour and then one of the meals had to be sent back because it was partially cold. The waiters did not apologize for anything until the meal was reheated and brought back and then when we left and a round of drinks was comped. I’d be hesitant to go back.
Chicken Korma came with prepacket microwave rice with shrivelled up peas and chilli and over cooked.
I had to ask for yogurt you would think it would had came with the dish!
