Wintergarden Geelong has just reopened with new management in September 2018. It is a beautiful space with a welcoming cafe serving delicious food including baguettes, wraps, sausage rolls, pies, quiche, soups, salads, cakes and slices. It also now has a wonderful nursery/garden centre.
The atmosphere is still pleasant but agree not what it once was. I dined there recently and had the Margarita pizza which was soggy and pretty disappointing. However the gallery and nursery space and the old building still makes it a good choice for coffee and cake. The full meals are safe but not really that interesting. The cafe seemed understaffed when we were there on a Saturday lunch (prior to a Simonds stadium football game down the road).
Changes Not For The Better!. I really miss the old dcor that was in the Wintergarden. The new look is too plastic and manicured. The old world feel has gone. The sofas in the raised area were wonderful. The old tables fitted in with the old building. The coffee is now not as good. The cakes are not as fresh. Bring back the Wintergarden to its former glory!
