The food was alright, with good flavours and appropriate serving sizes.
The 2 star was mainly for the service. The waitress who was refilling my glass of water absent-mindedly poured water directly onto my mobile phone, before realising it approximately 30 seconds later, by which time my phone and my shopping on the floor were both drenched in water. She did apologise but no initiative was taken to offer me a napkin or help me dry my phone – I resorted to wipe my phone on the cloth on my lap and let my shopping air dry.
Would probably return for the food if Im in the area or when the service improves.

I had a great dinner here last Friday. The restaurant is warm, inviting and the service friendly. Highlights were the Thai duck salad and the Sate, and we appreciate the gluten free options.

Had dinner here tonight. We were a party of 4 and were upstairs. Nice and spacious but we were placed right on the stair well so had cold draft for half the night till it got warm upstairs. Plenty on the menu to grab your fancy. We ordered the UdangKunit (prawns with turmeric, garlic, chilli and toasted coconut), Sesame crusted duck and the Gang Keow Wann Gai (Thai green chicken curry with veg). The duck was to be shared between 2. Unfortunately for some reason only the green curry and the prawns came out together. We waited for another 20 minutes for the duck. So needless to say the other two meals were now cold. Having said this the food was great. The green curry had just the right flavour and the chicken saw very tender. The prawns were also wonderfully cooked and were large and juicy with a lovely pan sear to them. I was told the duck was perfection :). I would eat here again for sure. Well done

Dotted around Melbourne are restaurants that are culinary gems. Kerabu is one such restaurant, located amongst unlikely neighbours like a takeaway fish’n’chip store, cafe and bakery. The restaurant has a lovely, almost romantic ambiance to it with both ground and upstairs eating area.

One can judge the philosophy of a restaurant by the quality of ingredients they serve and flavour profile combinations. We ordered Hoy Jor which was beautifully fried and delicious with sweet chilli sauce, succulent & juicy duck covered with an amazing red curry, a tangy yet tantalizing mild tom yum soup, prawns that were fresh and perfectly cooked with a small side of vegetables, pad thai and for dessert a dish of forbidden rice with ice cream. Our meal was a completely satisfying and one that was simply perfect.

I would love to have taken photos of my dish but alas, the food was too good to wait. Thinking about it now, I should have taken photos of empty plates but the waiters and waitresses were very efficient and knew what they were doing. They even kept my glass topped with water.

I will definitely be back to Kerabu! Highly recommended.

    Awesome Fusion Thai Restaurant !!!
Avocado prawn, duck salad, fish fillet dish and deserts are exceptional. Atmosphere is great however no high chair for toddler, hence need to BYO. Advance reservation is highly recommended.

Beautiful south eastern Asian food. Best to book before you go as it gets packed out. Lovely dishes and nicely presented, upstairs seating is the best, although beware that they dont cram too many tables in, ask for the nice round tables upstairs if you have 6 or more. Great variety of dishes. Easy to find parking along side street.

Our group travelled some distance to visit this restaurant as we had all been there before and enjoyed the food. The only time available was 8.15pm, but we were prepared to wait. And wait we did. We waited to be served. We waited for our bottle of wine. After being reminded our waiter finally brought it to the table after 9pm. Then we were told the deep fried snapper we had ordered was not available. That being the mainstay of our order, we had to recast our whole meal. The waiter helpfully suggested duck. We do not eat meat we explained. The rockling was frozen, so we opted for another vegetarian dish. Sorry, there is no belachan spinach he said. Ok, the Stir fried greens and trio of mushrooms and the red curry pumpkin, we tentatively suggested. But are all the ingredients to make those meals available? He assured us they were.

The curry was tasty but consisted mostly of sauce with few vegetables. Not the sort of lovely pumpkin curry where the abundant pumpkin melts into the sauce. Hardly a substantive meal unless you want to assault your body by heaping coconut curry sauce onto your rice. The greens and mushroom dish was boring and not what we expected with that title. Where were all the mushrooms? Had they in fact run out of them after all? The Char Kway Teow was good, but not enough to save the day.

Finally it was time for the bill and we had to wait again. It became obvious that we were forgotten. I said to my friends that I should give the staff an honest appraisal of our experience, but they pointed out that it would go nowhere. When I looked at them behind the bar packing up I saw that it was true. They would not have been interested. They had not been interested in us the whole night.

We left no tip in the circumstances. Perhaps because of this, a female waiter came to the table and in what seemed to be a tone calculated to be rude, asked to retrieve the black folder which had contained the bill.

Kerabu you are capable of more than this. We – your customers – are entitled to more than this. We should not be disadvantaged just because we accepted a table at 8.15pm.
