DO: Curry chicken noodle
DONT: Forget about the customised noodle soup and toppings option.
TIP: Park in the multi deck car park. Much more convenient and not timed.
Oh boy…..Houston, we have a problem. Grand Tofu has a great reputation so I must have caught them on a particularly bad day when I ordered takeaway hawker dishes on a Sunday afternoon. First up, it took almost 30 minutes for my order to be prepared. The fried rice was mushy and gluggy with no hint of wok hei. The stir fried chicken with vegetables was unfortunately literally tasteless so I can only imagine that the chef forgot to season the dish. The Ipoh combination with egg gravy was packed in two separate boxes, which was great, but once again, it appears that the wok hei was having a day off. The only redeeming dish was the KL fried thick noodle – saved by the tiny pieces of fried lard:)
I accept that everyone can have a day off now and again but to serve 3 very mediocre dishes out of 4 dishes ordered is more like having a week off.
Sorry guys but with so many choices at the amazing food mecca along Kings Way, I will not be revisiting Grand Tofu anytime soon….
Fast Chinese food in a very popular part of Melbourne. There is a glut of great places to eat around here so you have to be on your game otherwise people will just go elsewhere. The Grand Tofu had a great array of choices and the Mee Goreng was very good. The deep fried calamari a little chewy.
Come early if you’d like a seat as they don’t take bookings. Very popular with locals.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking out the front but there are time limits. Take away available.
You really cant go wrong here, honestly. Weve been sporadically visiting since uni days (which was at least a decade ago!) and it never fails to satisfy.
Amazing food, cant go wrong with any of the noodle dishes – though Ive never tried to select your own ingredients option.
Also be prepared to cue if you come at a busy time eg lunch or dinner
Went here and the menu looks amazing with nice pictures. Food came out fast and it was so tasty! I had their beef hor fun and couldnt fault it. The portion is huge for the price, there were lots of veggies in the dish which i enjoyed. I didnt need to use chili oil which i usually do with hor funs. My friend has the bowl of hot pot where you can choose soup base and the things in it. She had the tom yum base and it was very refreshing. Will come back again for other dishes
Been going there for years. Must order the Yong Tofu noodle soup. Pick your own fish cake / tofu and they will deep fried them for you, pair it with the curry laksa soup. Quick lunch fixed.

I come here for my Curry Laksa cravings and this place delivers!
At only $12 a bowl you get to pick about 6 ingredients (expect everything to be fish stuffed lol) and I usually get thick egg noodles but you can mix two if you like!
It’s honestly such a delicious soup base, and perfect on a cold day!
Only thing is tables are way to close to each other. When Grand Tofu gets busy expect to be eating / sharing a table with 2 other friends you didn’t even know you had..
