Halls Gap Bakery is located in the small town of Halls Gap right next to The Grampians. Whether you’re looking to carb-up before a good hike, or indulge in a treat afterward, you should definitely stop in this quaint little bakery!We tried their award-winning vanilla slice and meat pie. The vanilla slice was pretty tasty, with a rich royal icing that stole the show. I especially appreciated the not-overly-sweet vanilla custard filling, sandwiched between delicate puff pastry. The meat pie was just the hearty pastry I was craving after a long morning of hiking. The crust was super buttery and flaky, with the meat filling absolutely delicious.
Every town needs a good bakery and Halls Gap certainly is up there with having an excellent one. Over the Easter period, this place was hopping with people coming for their daily bread, that lunchtime pie or a sweet treat. The staff worked tirelessly to serve everyone and always managed to keep smiling. The bakery is in the middle of Halls Gap within the Stony Creek Stores shop area. You can choose from hot food or cold. Bread, cakes, slices, croissants, premade sandwiches, rolls and focaccias as well as cold drinks. Something for everyone here.Prices are reasonable. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram and stroller accessible. Good parking across the road. Please do not feed the abundant number of kangaroos in the area or even the cockatoos as they cleverly pull rubbish out of the bins.
