Went here as all other restaurants were booked out, food was average but pricey for what we got! Got a Thai beef salad with hardly anything in it and had ice berg lettuce, flavours were okay. Weird vibes but staff were friendly. Probably wouldn’t go back.

We came here because nothing else appeared to be open in Halls Gap. A few kms out from town on the right, a long driveway leads you to the motel / restaurant. Watch out for the kangaroos as they are plentiful at dusk. So are the sulphur created cockatoos that perch on the buildings and in the trees with their iconic ‘squack’.The restaurant is a good size and had about 4 tables either guests.Between the four of us we ordered the lamb rack, the pork belly, the steak and a chicken parma. Not cheap, starting at $28 for the parma but the food was very good, the portion sizes generous and the food was prepared relatively quickly. Wine and beer list quite comprehensive. Wouldn’t have the house white – found it somewhat bland. Staff were good and very helpful and generous. Happy for us to split the bill. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking out the front. I’d certainly return again so explore more of the menu.

3.5We called past Views Restaurant for a meal last night. Being New Year’s Day they didn’t have their full menu available but instead a selection of mains. This was a shame as I had been keen to try some of the other items that didn’t make the short list. We had the fisherman’s basket with a selection of fresh and fresh and deep fried seafood. We also enjoyed the parma which was made with a bacon laced tomato sauce under a generous cheese. Both of these dishes came with some of the best chips I have tasted in recent time. Texturally crunchy on the outside and super soft inside, we both agreed the chips were well worth a try. Views were spectacular and I sat for some time after team with my ready mix bourbon looking out to the mountains as the sun went down.
