One of the few fine Indian dining restaurant that can claim to have been around aeons and that itself is an achievement. Family run and they make patrons feel like family too. Staff are polite, smiling, prompt and ready to accommodate any reasonable request. Snugly nestled on Hampton st with nice clean ambience with an additional function/event hall upstairs.
Adequate quantities and appropriately priced. Wish they would not over embellish the dishes so individual flavors express themselves But they keep improvising and thats a good thing.
They cater an enviable spectrum of Indian sub continental dishes many of which are not easily found elsewhere.
Dont miss the mint prawn tandoor, mango chicken, chicken methi masala which is rarely offered elsewhere, the seldomly found kashmiri beef embedded with dried fruit as Kashmiris adeptly do, the mundane eggplant transformed into the grand baingan bharta, the delicately made kulcha, the flavorful subzi pulao, the ghee cooked biryani rendered with milk imbibed saffron with a hint of kewra, the lamb biryani and ending with one or preferably more, as I did, of their kulfis.
Food was good but not spicy enough even when we requested for hot. They have been greedy in trying to squish far too many seats into their restaurant which meant we actually had someones clothes go into our food when trying to walk past our table. When we requested to be moved to another table the waiter was incredibly rude and refused to move us, even when a table had freed up and stayed free the entire time we were there. Instead he began telling us how popular they are and asking when we booked. We had booked on a previous day. It will be the last time we book or ever go to Roti Boti. Never want to go out to dinner to be insulted by the waiter and have clothes in our food.
