I thoroughly enjoyed my first trip to Zaaaaanaduuuu… on the weekend (yes, there was a lot of singing taking place)! We were invited to Zanadu for a foodie Christmas party. Immediately I noticed how friendly and welcoming the staff were – they showed us down to the back courtyard and immediately offered us a beverage. The Cava and the Rose were delicious! We were treated to some absolutely delightful tapas – I LOVED the calamari, and the croquettes were amazing – they tasted just like the ones in Barcelona. I highly recommend a visit here if you love indulging in quality tapas and wine!
Now that we’re in Zanadu….. Zanadu……
Zanadu is a cosy spanish tapas bar in Hampton. I went here as part of a Christmas celebration. We sat in the courtyard, it’s a really nice space. Feels like you’re in someone’s backyard – very homely.
We were treated to an array of tapas style dishes to begin with including some amazing croquettas, meatballs and calamari. The pice de rsistance was when the head chef made the paella in front of us, it was pure artistry. I wish someone would look at me the way she looked at the paella. It tasted good as well.
There is a good selection of booze to wet the palate. You won’t struggle to find a drink of your liking.
Service was friendly, great atmosphere. The owners clearly know customer service and they do it with a smile. All in all, this place fits very nicely in Hampton. It’s a great vibe, locals would be happy to have this as their local tapas bar.
Loved this little tapas restaurant which invited in a gaggle of hungry foodies in their rear courtyard today. Just 9 months old and being booked out over much of the build up to Christmas it was great to be able to try out your menu.
We tried a variety of wines by the glass, sangria and beer (local and imported) and I discovered a new Spanish gin ( Siderit) that I am going to have to buy internationally.
The food was on point and we started up with a variety of entree including arancini and cheesy croquets. The chicken skewers were tender and others appeared to like the meatballs, I sadly missed out.
We had our own mixed paella cooked for us and I watched this dish being cooked slowly with every ingredient being added at the correct time for perfect cooking. Was resulted was perfectly cooked everything and it had a nice paprika spice to it.
Our meal was finished off with churros in a chocolate dipping sauce.
Zanadu has live music on Sundays and is open late for that late night drink. They are planning to tweak the restaurant layout in coming months with some exciting new fitouts planned to add to the alfresco feel at the front so watch this space.
We were invited to an event at Zanadu today (and I could not stop singing the song from that Olivia Newton John movie we all know and love) in the sunny outdoor courtyard. This is the perfect spot for an event with a group of 30 or so people. We sipped ros whilst watching a paella being prepared right in front of us.
We tried a variety of entrees my favourite of which were the chicken skewers and calamari. The main event the paella was expertly cooked with perfectly tender seafood and extremely flavoursome rice. We finished off with the ever crowd pleasing freshly made churros dipped in chocolate sauce. What a way to end a meal!
