Best pizza I’ve ever had – hands down!I was so excited to go to East End Wine Bar with a girlfriend for drinks and a great feed. We started with small plates, which included the most magnificent chicken paté, toasted sourdough, superb sundried tomatoes, dates, gherkins and crackers. The perfect start to the night. We chose the Donnie pizza and the G-Berg pizza. I can confidently say The Donnie was the best pizza I’ve had in my life. The base was amazing and the garlic prawns and anchovies were complimented perfectly by the fior de latte. The hint of chilli was excellent too! My mouth is honestly watering just thinking about it now.Their alcohol selection was beyond impressive, from cocktails to rosé, beers to ciders, to bubbly – they seriously had it all. We were so happy with glasses of sparkling Vouvray in our hands throughout the night. Food and drinks as incredible as this really makes for the perfect night!
Camberwell is famed for its Sunday markets, leafy green streets, and now thanks to Max Gawn, for having one of Melbourne’s hottest wine bars. East End is housed in what was Young Auction House for 85 years, and is across from Rivoli cinema. This elegant space fits right into this prestigious suburb, and claims one of the most impressive wine offerings in the Melbourne, sourcing bottles from all over the world, with a focus on artisan producers.I perched myself in the outdoor courtyard, and devoured a gluten free wood fired pizza while sampling the reds menu. Think Bill Downie’s Cathedral Pinot Noir; Unico Zelos’s ‘Fresh AF’ Nero D’avola; Nicholas Reau’s ‘Enlevement Demade’ Cab Franc; and Luli ‘Umberta’ Barbera from Piemonte.   For those who are looking for a standout drop, they have a bottle shop with a 300 strong list of red, white, pink and orange wines; from a curated mix of well established and emerging winemakers.Â

We were invited to East End wine bar tonight scene of many a cheese plate and very delicious pizza. The food menu here is limited but adequate and ultimately the right decision, it is after all, supposed to be about the wine.I enjoyed a pimms as our cheese plate was prepared. Unfortunately they had run out of the baked Camembert but the French triple cream Brie was utterly sensational. Definitely a must order. The accompanying quince paste and balsamic glaze drizzled bread proved the perfect pairing. There is a decent variety of pizzas and we chose to try the lamb with mint, yoghurt and smoked cheese. These was a really tasty treat and the base itself very well made. My other favourite was the potato, garlic and rosemary. While simple this was very well executed.A few mix ups with the order but very friendly staff. We finished with the dessert pizza which is a peanut butter, chocolate delight topped with ice cream. This was basically like crunchy PB toast, equal parts comforting and indulgent. A brilliant addition to Camberwell
