Really lovely and spacious place. The staff were terrific and and food came very quickly. The food was delicious, especially the freshness of the chicken in the burger. Loved the presentation and overall flavours! The juices were really refreshing and tasty.
I use to come her often cuz fish and cups were amazing but recently they made adjustments to the dish it was so disappointing as the fish pieces became so much smaller and even the waffle chips I thoroughly enjoyed had changed to soggy dry chips.
I decided to try this cafe out after hearing good reviews. I was Immediately greeted by friendly staff and decided to order their famous pixel avocado on toast and a smoothie. The dish plates beautifully however I was left a little hungry still afterwards.
Light years cafe:
Ambiance 5+: this cafe has the most beautiful indoor space. A very industrial spacious modern look with plenty of seats. From high benches looking out the windows, to secluded seats for 2 behind a small wall and outdoor spots, there is a place for everyone.
Food 5: The food here is so cool. The Kabab was cooked well with lots of salad on top of a Japanese styled pancake. The pixelated avocado is very well presented, and the hummus edamame is delicious. The chilli flavoured kale chips can be easily removed (as I dont like spice), but my brother said they were delicious! We also got a side of Kentucky fried halloumi that had a spice that tasted like charizo. The iced chocolate taste like standard chocolate milk with ice, not too chocolatey. The tropical smoothie has a strong mango taste with refreshing strawberry fruit pearls.
Service 5: lovely and friendly wait staff that make helpful recommendations. Was checked on to make sure everything was alright. Looks like a nice place to work!
Light Years is a cafe located in Hawthorn, pretty far from the city, but still very accessible. Unfortunately, some of the menus had changed, so we couldnt get some of the dishes that we saw on Instagram.
Buckwheat Pancakes
Price: $19
Taste:
The pancakes were very dry and not fluffy. They lacked of flavour and sauce. We were expecting a stack of sweet fluffy pancakes with generous toppings, it was a major disappointment.
LY Pork Belly Eggs Benedict
Price: $20
Taste:
It was just average, the pork belly didnt have as much fat, so it wasnt as juicy and tender. The english muffin was a little dry. The apple was an interesting touch to the dish.
Jarlsberg Potato Rosti
Price: $19
Taste:
The potati rosti was really good. It had crispy exterior and was flavourful. The sides werent anything special. But the potato rosti itself was tasty.
LY Fish & Chips
Price: $21
Taste:
There fish wasnt fishy at all. The batter was crispy, cooked perfectly. The fries was crispy and well-seasoned. The sauce was a perfect pairing for both the fish & chips. Definitely recommend this one.
Buttermilk Chicken Burger
Price:
-Taste:
Wanted to order the soft shell crab burger, but they had just changed it to buttermilk chicken. This burger and the fish & chips were the best ones out of all five. The chicken was crispy and well-seasoned. It was really flavourful. All the elements of the burger complements each other really well.
Overall, it was a bit of a disappointment. The drinks werent that good either. However, the service was great, and the dishes came out quite fast. Needs improvement on the food.
Interesting menu, cute interior. Dishes are tasty and portions are generous, a bit on the oily side but overall nice selection for vegetarians.
