Worst high tea ever!
High tea is meant to be an enjoyable experience where you leave feeling full and pampered.
I purchased a scoopon deal for my mother and I got a couples high tea.
We have left today with bad tastes in our mouths, no desire to return but a great desire to tell our friends.
The choice of tea is where it all started! Mum wanted green and I wanted English breakfast. We were not allowed to have our own tea! I hate green tea but had to take one for the team.
Next followed the finger sandwiches, 3x 2cm squares per person, no selection (advertised 3). 2 bite sized pies. Roughly the same size.
The selection of cakes, desserts and pastries was actually one petite lemon tart to again split amongst us.
Worst of all was the scones. One rock hard, stale. microwaved scone to knaw on to conclude our experience.
Needless to say we did a maccas run on the way home.
Sincerely avoid.
We came here with a voucher for a Pinki Pinki tea or high tea. This is an attractively decorated little cafe just off the street in the large building on the corner of Camberwell Junction. We chose the Asian Pinki Pinki tea and it was excellent value with a very generous amount of excellent dim sum items accompanied by a very pleasant tasting lemon grass tea and a dessert item.
The service was very efficient and friendly, making for a most enjoyable experience. We will return soon.
Delicious food, great tea, friendly service. Highly recommended for high tea. Great value for price as well. Nice tea display and cups it is a great place to go.
This is just a delightful cafe serving a wonderful variety of teas along with tasty food choices. Lovely ambience and very friendly staff. Ill definitely come again.
A super cute and quaint little place! Very instagram worthy and the decor is appealing. I was originally meant to come here for high tea with a friend using the livingsocial deal but she could not make it last minute so I just decided to come by myself because I didn’t want to reschedule it. The manager (apparently ex-Windsor hotel waiter/manager?) kindly told me that I am able to reschedule if I want and do the high tea next time, and maybe just get something small off the menu for this occasion. I said it’s fine, I’m here anyway so I might as well enjoy the high tea!
I chose the Chinese style high tea as it looked lighter and I was also wanting to try something different from the norm. For the tea I chose the Japanese green tea and I really liked it. It was fragrant and nice to drink. When I was waiting for the food I glanced around and saw the other tables assembled with beautiful tea cups and that they also have their own branded tea for sale. Shortly after that the food arrived: 2x3pc spicy fried prawn, 3pc prawn dumplings, 3pc siu mai, 2pc juicy bao, 2pc gua bao (pork belly bao) and a plate of profiteroles as dessert. I was actually able to finish everything except for the gua baos which I decided to take home. On the whole I really enjoyed the whole setup of the high tea and the presentation, however the food itself was average in my opinion. Most of it seemed to be frozen/bought from Costco. I guess I would not pay the original price for this sort of quality and quantity. On another note, this is definitely a great place for relaxing, sipping tea and catching up with friends. I recommend coming here to hang out, chill and unwind, sip on some tea and just enjoy a lovely afternoon.
Bought a Scoopon for High Tea. What a complete waste of money.
Really small amount of food ( one poor quality high tea shared between two people )
This included one small pot of tea between two.
Do not waste your money eating at this place.
Dined here yesterday bought a Scoopon deal for Classic high tea for $25. Whilst the ambience was nice and the 2 ladies that served us were friendly the high tea and offerings itself were disappointing. Ive been to many high teas in my time and they are usually fun in the sense that you spend a few hours relaxing whilst drinking pots of tea and eating lots of savoury & sweet food. The actual quantity of food was minimal and very disappointing we left hungry and that shouldnt happen when you go for a high tea. If this is what is normally served for $20pp its a rip off. We paid $12.50pp and felt ripped off. We had to share a pot of tea (1st time ever in a high tea), everyone has different tastes and likes so in a high tea you should get your own pot of tea. Sandwiches we got were chicken and avocado (2 bite size pieces each) and 1 salmon (bite size piece) and 1 spinach triangle each. One bite gourmet pies (true to their name, they are tiny) we got 1 chicken and 1 beef which we had to share.how do 2 people share a bite size pie? Scones we got 1 scone each with jam and cream which was nice. Menu says selection of cakes, pastries and sweets well we got 1 small lemon tart to share where is the selection? So overall very disappointed, what we got as 1 tier to share was enough food for 1 person not 2 people. If you are going to call it high tea you need to offer more food! Would not recommend, there are much better places to have high tea and/or morning and afternoon tea. The place is also really hard to find. Its behind the brand new building numbered 480.
