Rolln Cafe is my local, I come here every weekend. Polite young staff with an upbeat feel. Chilli scramble with the mushrooms and haloumi is my go to. Portion sizes are generous. Five senses coffee is unreal and the aai smoothie takeaway is a refreshing way to finish.
Rolln is a bit of a mixed bag and seems like a wasted opportunity. The venue is ok and the coffee is alright. I sometimes get my morning coffee from here when I cant be bothered going further. However, they used to have very, very delicious croissants here but then all of a sudden they completely stuffed that up. One day my croissant (warmed as I had requested it), though it looked just as they always did, this time it was all super chewy. You know how bread gets when you microwave it? Well, kind of like that. So I assumed they had put it in the microwave. A few days later I went for another one but this time I specifically asked if they warmed them in the oven or microwave and they confirmed it was in the oven. So I ordered it and the same chewy, awful croissant.
Then I compared notes to the colleague I had gone there to get a croissant with and he said that his was just the same (though it hadnt been warmed). I figured they just had some old ones they were getting rid off.
Next time I just went for coffee and mentioned that it was a shame that they seemed to have changed something with their croissants as they were now, not even average but actually pretty bad. I just got a shrug and not much more. I waited a couple of weeks trying to ensure I would get a new batch. Chewy. Awful. At $4 a pop (I think), the experiment was over. Never ordered a croissant from them again. Never will. Shame. Now I just get coffee here sometimes.
