Everything I ate was incredible, presentation, flavour and texture. If you love Mediterranean cousine you NEED to go here and order everything because it is all amazing!!!!! Wow, what a highly rated cafe. We pretty much decided to come here due to their high ratings and see what the fuss is all about. Is it really worth the 4.9? We came here on a Monday so it wasnt as packed as it would be on the weekend.

We ordered the Benedict and smoked salmon potato rosti. We really enjoyed both of the dishes. Im a lover of pork belly so I really enjoyed the pork belly in the Benedict however the pork was cooked very inconsistently with some parts of it being a bit dry which was a shame. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the sauce tied the whole dish together.

The Potato Rosti was quite decent but I wouldnt say amazing. It was missing someone more to it to make it a bit more special. I think it was lacking that ooooft factor, you know what I mean.

My partner really liked the coffee as well. Service was really quick and attentive.

Overall, Im kinda of iffy about the high ratings. Its good but its not great and amazing. I wouldnt mind coming back to try their other dishes. Maybe some of their sweeter plates.

Had such an amazing first experience at Shanklin, a Middle Eastern-inspired cafe off Hawthorn’s beaten path. Their indoor-outdoor seating area is beautiful on a sunny day; their servers are just as warm. The coffee (and golden latte) are great and the food even better. For my first main, I couldn’t pass up the Shackshuka. This is a strong statement, but I’d say this one was the best I’ve had in Melbourne. It was just the right amount of saucy, the eggs were still runny which added moisture and a gorgeous hue, and the goat cheese was generously sprinkled on top. My partner’s favourite brunch dish is a corn fritter, which determined our second main. While most cafe fritters leave me hungry, these large cakes topped with a healthy serve of guacamole were more than enough to satisfy. I highly recommend adding a poached egg and halloumi. They’re not needed as the fritters are quite good on their own, but really add to the meal. If you’ve yet to visit this highly regarded cafe, I urge you to make the trip. You won’t be disappointed.

Ventured over to Shanklin Cafe one spring Saturday. The wait was short but the cafe was so crowded that I barely had space to move. I ordered the Nutella pancakes and unfortunately could not get through much of it as it was overwhelmingly sweet. Nevertheless Im determined to return and give this cafe another go!

Love is the only word I have for this cafe. The food, the atmosphere and the people. I often go to their other cafe in Carlton north because of the great coffee and hospitality and Shanklin gives all the same vibes! I have been wanting to come here for a long time and I am so glad I did! Cant wait to come back.

I visited Shanklin recently and boy was I impressed. I started with a coffee which was perfection. I then had the Sweet Corn Fritters which is served with fresh guacamole, salsa, yoghurt and I ordered bacon the side. Such a filling dish! There is loads of corn in the fritters, which I loved.
My friend ordered the beef burger (and I may have had half!) and it was so delicious. The patty was moist and flavourful and the coleslaw added some freshness. I highly recommend!
The dessert was a showstopper, Nutella filled pancakes served with strawberries, grilled banana, Oreo crumbs and vanilla icecream. Its a massive serve and perfect for sharing.
Really cute cafe with seats out the front and a little courtyard. The staff are so wonderful too, really friendly and eager to make sure all guests are happy and catered for. Very impressive! Thanks for a great brunch!
